Hey same prob. as everyone else. My lifter noise just got worse. I pulled the covers and started pressing down on the rockers and 2 went down easily and one lifter with a bad retainer so I need three (3) new ones with metal parts. (Could be worse I started thinking rod bearing and if that was it I was going to be pissed, because I try to take very good care of it!) I know FWDP is out for another month or so. So anyone out there with 3 new with metal parts for sale so I don't have to wait?!?! If you have or know people who might please hook me up with their e-mail.

Thanks, Seth

Yeah I looked at that, I am leaning towards new first then if that fails then used and atleast the lifter on the ebay auction is missing the retainer?

How do you check the lifters? I have a couple really loud ones in my Spirit R/T. The car is down for a while, so I will probably pull the valve covers today. If they are bad, will they be soft? Or do they normally bleed down after a while?

Well this was my first time trying to check. I pulled the covers and just using my hand started taping and pressing down on the lifter side of the rockers. I found 2 that I could move this way, the rest I couldn't press down. I taped the ones I could move harder and got pretty close to making the noise as they would if the engine was running. Don't know if this is the best way but seems to work.

Most of the time it is not the lifter or rocker noise it will be bad torque specs.

SO are you saying that bolts may need to be re-tighted and if so which ones. Or what do you mean by "bad torque specs."?

Do you have a service manual from dodge for the T3? You need to torque and un torque the rocker safts in order so you will not bend them and so you can get a 100% accurated torque spec. You will need to buy a small specialty torque wrench to do this right. If they are over torqued they will hammer alot louder and harder. you first take the torque to 12Nm(105 in.lbs) then to 24Nm(210 in.lbs).

Yes when I had first reassembled the car after having the head worked on, I had the rocker assemblies too tight, and there was significant lifter noise.. I backed the bolts off gradually until the noise went away..

Oh ok I do have a full set of 92 FWD FSM's. I am sure that is adding to the noise but I am sure there are 2-3 bad lifters so I pre-ordered a full new set, and I'll get a torque wrench that will work to properly adjust the rocker arms!

Thanks, Seth
