This should be fun! Let's hear them all, the good the bad and the ugly. I'll start.

You know you're dringing a VNT when ...

... You get wheel spin in the first 3 gears
... you spend more time researching vaccum digrams than reading compressor maps
... you're trying for 1/2 an hour to explain to the dealership mechanic that there is no wastegate!
... when you can say: "It's a Variable Nozzle Turbo developed by Garrett in late 80s. Uses a system a variable vanes to control exhaust flow, to allow fast spool and good high rpm flow. It was used by Carrol Shelby on his Shelby Charger." in less than 2.2 seconds.

... You get heckled by all other TDers for having a tiny@$$ turbo but dont give a sh*t cuz you get all your boost before they get half of theirs!

you still have the stock exhaust because you live in fear of overboosting

You blow up the turbo and you can't find a place that rebuilds them or sells new ones so you upgrade to a real turbo anyway

hehe 1/2 boost on real turbo feels like full boost on a VNT I like the better MPG with a real turbo too.
