So it pretty much boils down to finding a doner. I would like to see all these cars restored/returned to thier original state, or something close. If someone was willing to remove the bumper and all, and take it to an established manufacturer for the purpose of making a copy, for a cut and potentially large profit, would that be insentive enough.
There is a simple idea out there that drives economies and profits. It is called supply and demand. It is what decides the price of fuel in the free world, for example. If you produce a part that someone wants, they will buy it. If the demand is high enough, they will pay the price. I need someone willing to take a chance; like any investor. If the price of the finished product is too high, they won't buy. But if the price is tolarable, and still nets a descent profit, one that makes the original investment(the doner part)worth the risk, let's do it. Annnnnnnnd, what if someone with a Shadow just wants to have some fun, and make it look like a CSX VNT?

I just dont see the demand being that high. How many of these things are really left on the road? How many people with Dodge Shadows are looking to hot rod them? Chances are, if you own a Shadow.....youre in one of two boats. You were just looking for cheap transportation and you bought it for 500 bucks and are driving it into the ground.......or......youre a turbo dodge guy and therefore a cheap skate and dont want to spend money that would otherwise go towards intercoolers and turbos on ground effects.
Im not saying that I wouldnt buy repro stuff if it was out there......I probably would. I just think that we are in a small minority. THey only made 500 of these things. Im sure at least 100 of them have been crashed, rusted out, parted out, etc. How many of the 400 left are in need of ground effects?

Well - speak up, how many would buy a rear air damn/skirt if someone made them? I ask becasue I need one and have the use of a brand new one to copy. Wednesday I am going to talk to a plastics place here in Portland on what it would take to copy it. I'll keep you all updated when I know.

For a moderate price, I'd be interested in a whole set for my car. Of course don't want it to look like something in F&F. Subtle gfx would be nice.

F&F = Fast and Furious. Yes I know. I don't want some Skyline body kit or even a Kamenari (sp) testarossa side skirt kit. A VNT kit would work.

I called Kaminari today to ask the about resuming production of the Shadow parts. The guy on the line said the CSX VNT rear skirt mold was lost in a fire, and lack of interest did not warrent the $20.000 it would take to re-do the mold. Anyway, he said he would go talk to the owner, and call me back. Well, I had to go to work 15 minutes later, so, I don't know if he called or not. I will call again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and so on......
They sell the front dam for about $350..reasonable...if they sold the rear skirt for $350, then 100 units will gross $35,000.
I would like to see all the members from SDAC, all CSX VNT owners, and anyone with a Shadow that they would like to modify call Kaminari.

Let's let them know we are serious and call them.
