I bought a 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT today. It needs rear valance (sp?).
And needs the front spoiler, too. My FIRST 89 Shelby VNT.
They sure are pretty!

Guess one of these days I need to buy the front and rear air damns. I heard they are fun to try and find, the rears are real hard to find I hear. Any one ever find the grey cloth for the seats to fix them?

Found a nice dry barn to back my trailer into with the CXS on it. He said I could store it there until I sell my place. Its under cover, out of the rain and out of the sun.

Hey Johnny - while the "shelby" embroidered fabric is impossible to find, the side bolster material is just a gray tweed that can be found at any fabric shop.

I had a drivers seat in similar condition as the one in your car. I had an auto interior guy pull the covers off for me (bottom and top part of the seats are two seperate covers) and then I ran them through a gentle cycle in the wash with oxyclean and they came out beautiful! The stains came right out of the shelby part of the fabric.

Then I had the interior guy redo the covers with new tweed on the bolsters and the seat looked almost new! He said it was a delicate operation because the shelby fabric was old, so he had to be careful restitching it, but it came out fine.

Hope this helps!

Johnny,

welcome to the CSX club. I bought mine new, and I will never get rid of it, ever! It is a fantastic ride. Mine too, has the recaro seats and they make the most comfortable car to drive.

I don't know where to get the rear valence, but you can get the front airdams from Kaminari. The ones they are making now no longer have the fake "air duct" on the sides, and look original. I got one last year from them.

http://www.kaminari.com/products/92ShadowSundance.htm

you can see that the have front air dam and the rear wing, but they don't do the side skirts and rear valence any longer (those parts weren't correct for the 89 CSX anyway).

Jonny,

that's good info about the seat cloth, I didn't know if washing them would ruin the fabric or not. My passenger seat is in great condition, no tears, just a few small stains, nothing bad, so I switched the seat rails and turned the passenger seat into the driver seat. My orig. driver's side seat has some tears on the outside seat bolster, like everyone else's. I need to get that repaired. In the meantime, and for future protection, I am getting some neoprene seat covers in gray from www.wetokole.com. I am going to have a local embroidery shop embroider "Shelby" into the fabric up towards the headrest. I think it will look ok.

anyway, thanks Jonny for the info. and Johnny, good luck with the CSX, they are awesome!! btw, check ebay for fiberide wheels (the gold ones), they come up on ebay every now and then.

DG.

Hell, I thought that was my car there for a second!!! Mine is missing the rear dam as well. It is too bad that someone with a complete car couldn't have a copy made of all the ground stuff, and repro them. There is no excuse for this, other than-I have it, and you don't. My brother and I have discussed this for hours, and neither of us can make any sense of this additude. If I had all the pieces, there would have been parts available a week after I bought the car.

some people have tried to repro some parts but the initial cost of getting the molds and such done has kept them from coming out.

How much are we talking? I just might have it. I will call Harry Glass this week, and see what he says.
I spent the weekend working on mine. The paint is pretty rough and required a lot of buffing.

While we are introducing ourselves, I will chime in. I just bought the race-ready CSX from one of the board members. The specs are here:

http://www.viplift.com/shelby.html

I know the purist would frown upon all the mods, but it was such a sweet deal just from the performance end, I couldnt pass it up. The previous owner sold a lot of the Shelby specific parts. My plan is to locate the seats, front air dam, fiberides, 4th brake light, grill, and a few other missing odds and ends and put the car back together so that it looks stock (but runs like bat out of hell).

I think finding someone to reproduce these parts will be hard. There were only 500 made, so the potential market is so small. Had there been 500,000 than there would be repro parts all over the place. Anyways, good information on this thread. If anyone knows of any of the aforementioned parts for sale, let me know!
