I'm trying to get ideas here about what can be done to add a front mount intercooler on the '89 CSX while keeping the a/c. Anyone done this? Any info and pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! --Shaun

Depnds on which intercooler you plan to use.
The spearco is a very tight fit and will require cutting. Depending on where you actually mount/place it, you may have to get a bigger radiator to handle the engine heat due to blocking 3/4 of the actual radiator face.
Were I to do it all over again, I would find a intercooler like this (well similar but just a bit taller)
eBay Motors: Bar & Plate Turbo Intercooler S13 S14 180SX 27X6.5X3.5" (item 270121856657 end time May-21-07 14:25:24 PDT)

I have a 90 vnt and we put a spearco fmic on. I kept my ac and I have no over heating issues.
Cutting was needed up front but, if you move your radiator over it doesn't get blocked and works well.
It is a tight fit.I do believe there are some pics under the induction section. Search my name, you will find it.
Hope this helps.

in a shadow it's an easy choice. The 1st gen Cummins i/c was made for it. Enlarge 2 factory holes in the rad support sheet metal, clearance the bumper supports slightly, fab some brackets and bolt it on. After doing one I could have it done in probably less than 2 hours. You don't even have to remove the headlights or upper grill. They're cheap and flow well and cool well. It was much harder to mount in my daytona. But I swear they should come in a shadow stock Retain's the a/c no problem. No moving of the radiator either. Run a full size Rad with it. I can get more detailed in exactly how to mount it but this is enough for now.

Where can I get one of these 1st gen I/C's? You don't happen to have a pic of it mounted in your shadow, do you? I am trying to find the best bang for the buck

I might have some pics somewhere. I find them on Ebay for anywhere from $100-150. I'll see if I can dig them up.

hmmm interesting mounting technique. I like it for the 87-88 cars. Not sure if it'd work with the 90+ headlights though. I found some pics. If anyone post's their email here I can email a couple.

The headlight difference isn't that much. That setup would still be a good one to do that is still fairly easy mounting wise, plumbing seems to be the hard part.
I PMed you my email...
