Just took my 90 Shadow C/S for it's first run. I don't know about anybody else's first impressions, but I'm diggin it! It might have been partly due to the thrill of driving when I shouldn't (car isn't plated yet), and it might be due to being able to blow the front tires away at the top of first and shifting into second. I would say third, but I didn't want to get too crazy. I've gotta get a look at the front brake hardware, as the fronts are sticking. This is probably due to the car sitting for a loooooooong time. It's got ridiculously low original miles, theoretically it could have less than ten oil changes under its belt, and of all the freaking places, I bought the car from a salvage yard! They had no idea what it was, and neither did I until I read some things my dad found out about the C/S versions online...
Things to fix so far are the sticky brakes, the slight hang down bubble in the headliner, the broken bumper cover mounts and a couple dings from clutzes in the boneyard.
So for all the mild trash talking about these things, I've gotta say that this car has impressed me. I had an AWD 91 Talon TSI, and for the first drive, I'd pick this over the Talon. I don't know about top end, but quickness out of the hole, I'd take the Shadow.
Anyhow, I'm geeked to have one of these things, and hope that by the time things start getting buggy on it, some of those on this board are still able to help impart their knowledge.
