I have a Daytona VNT and was wondering about the second fender tag. I have two. One with all of the stamped options of the car, and the other one is right beside it with just the words "code 8". What is the extra Data Tag for?

my 1990 vnt daytona does not have the second tag, but there is a hole where one could be. No marks like one was ever there either.

The second tag is riveted in place at the same point as the Data tag that has all of the option codes. It simply extends in the other direction. It's the same size and shape but just has "code 8" and nothing else.

Ok VNT guy and gals, I have made an ERROR,,.. gasp!!! the two tags are not riveted on ,they have sheet metal screws, but do appear to be factory and the tags appear to have never been off. So is this "code 8" tag a VNT thing ????? Or is it a 1 of none ever built factory expiremental Super Daytona?,.., or maybe the line worker was bored that day and decided to play with the stamping machine and snickered as the car left his station. I took a picture of them here is the link in the members forums:

I found this while googling:

# 1983-1984 4 Cylinder, 2.2L, Gas, Carburetor, VIN Code "8" Shelby, Without Spoiler

Maybe someone on the production line is messing with you.

member NAJ decoded a few interesting things from the main data tag.

4BAA : (Company Car Tracking)
4BC : (Marketing/Public Relations Vehicle )
4HA : (Special Scheduling Condition I)

He still could not come across any information on the separate "code 8" Tag

This may explain a little bit, being a marketing/public relations car it must have something to do with that , since a few VNT people said they don't have the second tag.

I also have "code 8" Crossram. My car VNT is white aswell. On my print out it was a "vehicle test evaluation" car with an early build date. Are cars most be built real close together. Also mine has 2 MAP sensors factory, how about yours?

When you say "printout" where / what is the printout you are referring too? Did you get a breakdown listing of your codes and tag from somewhere? a member on here (NAJ)broke down some of my codes but I don't know where he got them from. I have not looked that close at the car to see two Map sensors. i really have not had a chance to do too much to it. I bought it last fall, and the winter hit early and hard, it has been sitting until the weathwer breaks. it will be my new driver,

I'm a little late to this thread, but I also do not have a second plate like that on my 90 shelby Daytona VNT... just the one tag.

Mine is white too, if that matters any.
