So I just graduated from highschool and have some cash id like to put towards the Daytona. I will be putting a new pressure plate and clutch in it so I figured while im at it I will pull the engine too and replace parts on that too. Just to freshen it a little. One thing I really want to work on is the turbo. Is there a kit I can buy to rebuild it? Like bearings and seals? Any other things I should look into? Thanks!

It's not worth trying to rebuild a VNT turbo unless you are looking to maintain originality and limit your performance output. They were originally designed for a 1.8 liter engine and are pretty maxed out on the 2.2 engines. You should look at upgrading to a TII turbo which will give you a better bang for your buck. I am extremely happy with the one I bought from turbos unleashed. They seem to have the best price and warranty out there that I could find.

Well the car has plenty of power, Im just looking to keep it going. It needs to be reliable so I can drive to school and work. I dont have the money to put a new turbo in it. So I guess im looking to just clean up what I already have.

Dont mean to take away from what this guy is asking but since I would like to know some steps to improving my car as well. What other turbos will bolt up to the vnt's manifold? Would the exhaust manifold have to be replaced with another? Oh and unlike this guy, my car does NOT have enough power.

Im not trying to make it any faster. I just want to make it more reliable since I will be driving it 5 hrs to school. Just what are some things I should replace when I have it all torn apart when Im changing the clutch? Im already thinking the rear seal on the engine and the input shaft seal on the tranny. Should that be enough. I only want to do this once. Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if anybody would really consider a turbo rebuild to be routine maintenance. If it ain't broke then don't fix it. There are probably a hundred different things you could do to your car that are worn and do need to be replaced.

Runs fine doesn't mean jack. Do the test and find out.

He wants a reliable daily driver, I want to get rid of my vnt because all I read about is that the vnt is a very limiting factor to building horsepower and making my csx a real kick in the pants kinda car. My car is probly not in the best mechanical shape right now im sure it needs a complete overhaul. So Im in no position to do to much to it besides drive it. But hopefully here in the near future Ill have another srt up and runnin and be able to put this information to use.
