I was driving today in the rain and noticed something very strange. The car produced more boost and power than it has in a while. Lately it seems to not hold power when on dry pavement, the boost will cutout at 10-11 psi. With the slick roads, there is less force on the front wheels so it would be easier for the engine to produce power. My question is then could my engines problem be compression and or vacuum leaks? Just pondering. But man she feels fast!

Who knows what it'll be like when it dries.

colder intake temps, or a wet IC if it's up front makes noticable diffrence. I know I can really feel the difference when it's raining out and my FMstockIC is all cold and wet. just a thought

yeah.. a colder intake charge will allow you to run more efficiant boost... so yeah.. i can see 11-12psi... only thing i coud think of would be if you didn't see that kinda boost when it was dry out...

that is the crappy thing. when it is warm and dry out the turbo overboosts an cuts out. If it is held at 10 psi the turbo will hold boost, though. And it always cuts out until the engine is warm.

i'm wondering if that doesn't have something to do with the vacuum lines or the solenoids being old... i remember reading somewhere that the solenoids stick after a while until they're warm enough to operate... i had a stuck solenoid, but i think that was from non use for 1 1/2 years

How does one go about checking the solenoid's performance?

with a scanner... umm.. wait i've got one!!!

i went on ebay and searched "scantool" and found a used OTC 2000 for $35 shipped... haven't gotten it yet, but i sent payment a week ago...

otherwise you could take it out of the car, and run a lead to your battery... without 12v, one side should be open, with 12v, the other... if it doesn't move, it's stuck...
