Hello,

Does anyone know if this alternator listed on ebay is a direct replacement for my VNT LeBaron? The pully grove numbers are about the same and the seller has indicated that it would fit my car(there is alot of noise coming from mine). Just want to be sure before I commit myself. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Daniel

Do you have a denso on your car? The pulleys swap easy if it is wrong. If the ears are set up the same it should work. They don't list the amps but they do say 137mm or 5 3/8 inches. That should be a 120 amp alternator. 90 amp are 4 7/8 inches in diameter. If your alternator is the 4 7/8 this one should work just upgrade the battery cable to the alternator. The price on it is very good.

Are you sure your alternator is making the noise? Is your alternator mount rubber bushed? I think bad bushing cause belt noise. Johnny make some nice poly bushings to fix the bushing issue. polybushings.com

I better take a closer look at just what I do have, and also listen to where the noise is really coming from. I really appreciate the information and responses.

You can also get rebuild kits for them for fairly cheap, or have an alt shop rebuild it for you.

Usually it's just brushes that need replacing, but if you have noise it could also need bearings which aren't a big deal to do either.

I just stocked up on brushes and have some used bearings around if a denso I have would need them. But with the shipped price on the one in that auction I wouldn't mess with repairing one if I didn't have parts. It was priced to sell.
