Man.....I can hear crickets in here.
Any of you VNT guys out there alive?
Ok, lets get a thread of mods/pics/planned mods, etc going or something.
I'll post some old pics of my VNT later this evening to *hopefully* get a new thread started. Any other ideas for such a quiet forum ??

Nawww....I hope not. It's not a bad little forum, but the days/weeks inbetween posts is kinda sad at times.

eh....sometimes the "generic" questions are fun. Heck, I am sitting on the 90 Factory manuals and a scanner....plenty of VNT stuff, etc. if anyone needs it lemme know.

Good info.
Me personally, I wish that I could get any turbo builder, re-seller, tech, etc. to agree on the VNT turbos in terms of max boost pressure and upgrades, etc.
I have been told and had lengthy conversations with the above, and I was told anywhere from 14 psi as a max,all the way up to 30 psi as a max. I have been told the upgrade to the VNT28 is a hit or miss due to the stress on the turbine shaft, seals, etc.
Outside of that we as VNT owners are kinda limited as to upgrades since the turbo is so small and no one makes a larger VNT (unless you go the Super 60 route) for us to work with. Only thing I have seen recently is Neil Emiro (sp) using a VNT turbo off a diesl that is approx 2x biger then stock, but then you are talking major fabrication, boost control issues, temps, etc. to get it to run right.
I like the VNT and it's fun to drive but kinda pricey on parts. I wouldn't mind trying the dual bearing turbo, but finding reason to part with $1800 plus installation time, etc. would not be easy.
In the meantime I think the guys who run a VNT are more apt to not do any major upgrades due to either alot of mis-information, lack of support, longevity of the turbo, etc. that the TII/TIII guys are able to do. Me personally I have dumped alot of money into my vehicle and am not %100 done, and at times it's been hit or miss on parts, but the biggerst problem is finding someone who really *knows* a VNT and won't make matters worse in either working on it, giving advice, or finding parts that will not crap out after a short time.

It seems to me (as a former VNT owner) that the only work that should really be done are around the VNT system. Upgrade the suspension, make yourself comfortable, maybe get a calibration or possibly some headwork, and leave the VNT system alone. It's too complicated...lol.
If that isn't enough...just get a second car to play with. I miss my VNT sometimes. Usually for the 3 or 4 seconds it takes for my T2 to spool...

I love my VNT now! But i also love my T1's, TII's and my TIII.. I have each one! but the VNT is the only one running right now.. And in order for it to stay that way.. I'm not going to upgrade it AT ALL!! stock airbox and all.. OTher than the fact i don't know how it'll react to a cold air pipe and exhaust upgrades'.. but i'll worry about that when the time comes and i have another car to drive...

The problem with the VNT forum is most people with a VNT leave em alone or just upgrade them period. And then those who do upgrade to lets say the vnt28 dont post any info or anything. Like i thought cindy was suppose to have some bad ass vnt28 csx or something like that and nothing has ever come from that.
Im just tired of messing with the damn thing. I had a cat and stock muffler on my car and it still overboosted and the vanes were working so i had no idea what was going on and its pissed me off to the point where now its just gonna get a super 60 and ill be happy b/c it will be reliable.

Not to question your knowledge chris but if you hooked that line to your airbox wouldnt it suck in the oil when you are getting on it? What you are saying makes sense to a point but if i remember correctly a fair amount of oil comes thru that return line into the pan. Does make sense though about the whole crankcase pressure thing though!
But it still seems like it would suck oil into the airbox!

Yes. Oil pukes out of this fairly fast. Engine is in the car. Cranked it over for a while and a huge puddle was created. I noticed this hose was left off but was left puzzled because I don't even know where it goes. thnx everyone for the reply's.
PS; I have no idea why how I found the extra hose in pic to post this question. I'm not sure why I would have two I'm likely missing something besides a few brain cells lol.
