hows it going guys. my friend told me a little while ago about the vnt and i was wondering how big of a difference they make compaired to a single vane turbo and how reliable are they.

i also would like to know if they make different types of vnt that are able to bolt on to other cars and if so where?

The electronics to control it are more complexe. The VNT our cars have are rediculously small. 14-16lbs of boost is pushing the little thing pretty hard. Yeah they spool quick but are choked off feeling to me. Of course I have a big 2.5 with lots of exhaust work. The 90 CS VNT I drove the other day which was stock spooled quickly but really didn't go anywhere. My 2.5 has more grunt, is faster up top by a long shot and get's better MPG than his 2.2 VNT. If he drives to my house he has to stop just before town to fill up. If I drive to his house (Doing 10-15 to even 75MPH faster than he drives) I make it there with 1/4 tank left. He has to run in the boost most of the time at 75MPH. Even up the 6000ft pass I only push 0psi. Most of the time I'm between 12-15" of Vac on the flats. Now if you could get a Monster size VNT to work then it might be cool. Something that could open up and let the exhaust breathe.

it is true that you need the turbo to breath freely in order to get the most performance out of it. do you know if that make a bigger vnt that could breath easy. im not trying to put a vnt on a regular 4 cylinder car, im trying to see if it would be a good idea to install one on my subaru wrx which has a 2.0 boxer engine. the reason i feel that the vnt would be a better turbo for the car is because the boxer engine exhause manifold is pretty long compaired to a regular four cylinder so beause of the distance the exhause has to travel the vnt would make the car peform better at lower rpm's. any coments

if any body knows or has heard of this application please tell me.

is their any place that sells vnt's

The wrx would not be a good match for the VNT turbos used on chryslers, sorry. It would spool quickly for you, but your top end would be hurt.

A VNT on a near stock 2.2 8 valve motor is alot of fun! Not too much room for big power, though.
