Yea I think your right crazy because when I recieved the turbo I just took it out of the box and bolted it on.Is the adjustment trial and error as you drive it because I'm pretty sure the nut that locks the setting on the arm is almost to the top of the threads. What should I do??

First I would suggest finding center on the swing of the actuator at the center section. Once you have found adjust till it sits center on it's own. That is where I set the last one I had on mine since the original was adjusted to that same point. Mind you, I am no longer even bothering with VNT. I went ahead and got rid of it.

I found another tear in the turbo housing hose(by the way those dress up hose lines suck) which is why it was overboosting.Seemed ok for a day and now last night it started to run like crap.I started it today and now I have pressure blowing out the dipstick hole and out the oil cap hole as well. Why this is I don't know?Too much crank pressure?hoses?

I was wondering why your PCV hose "blew off" as it is only connected to vacuum sources, there should never be boosted pressure on it. If you are getting a pressurized crankcase so that you get vapor out the dipstick tube and the oil filler cap, it is time to do a compression check on the cylinders.

Sounds like serious blow by, usually caused by cracked/broken piston ring lands. But if it happens only under boost, and not at idle, then maybe you have a vacuum line that is connected wrong and is pressurizing the PCV system and the crankcase.

Do a compression check to be sure which area to look at.

I have to contradict you on one thing Barry. The PCV hose does have pressurized air going to it everytime you hit boost. Remember that it has a length of hose going from it at the valve cover to the manifold vacuum source. I had a nightmare evening once driving to Fort Wayne and back, with that dang hose blowing off everytime I hit over ten psi. Replaced it and zip tied it as soon as I got back home though. LOL.

that sounds like a serious case of blow-by.I`d check what Barry said. The pvc problem blowing off after higher boost levels was solved on my car by using a clamp.I used clamps on about 2 or 3 things once I started running higher boost.

My mistake here. I assumed (for no apparent reason) that the PCV hose being talked about was the one coming off the valve cover, or the one going to the air cleaner. I forgot all about the manifold connection, and indeed that hose would see boost pressure. So that hose could blow off if the ends had swollen or stiffened to the point they didn't hold themselves on anymore.

Still, blow by is an indication of something seriously wrong.

I did a wet test yesterday with all plugs out and this was the result
cylinder#4-115,#3-115,#2-115,#1-45 psi.So I took the valve cover off and the rockers look and feel fine.I can't see good enough into the cylinder but pretty sure I melted the piston.I'm going to phone the rebuilders and ask what he wants to do.I'm hoping he will just pull the piston out the bottom because if I got to pull the engine again tomorrow I will be pist.
I hope he warranties the piston and work as I have 3 months and if he tries to screw me then I'm going to be really pist Can't give up on her because I got too much money in her now.only 900 km on rebuild.I will keep updated.

It may not be the engine builder's fault, doesn't take too many overboost episodes to crack ring lands. I blew a motor screwing around with a MBC also, I know what a hearbreak it is. That's really a shame, sorry to hear.

Well if he said it wouldn't be the rings because there good for life but if it is a piston and he won't replace it at least it's only $125.Hopefully he will cover most of the the labour or otherwise I wont be taking my other 2 engines that I want work done on 2 him.I have to wait until monday to talk to him.I wanted 2 hook up an a/f gauge but one guy at the performance shop told me that unless you buy an expensive one ($600) then your wasting your time

barry, you were right. The rebuilders told me today that it was a ring land so he shipped the piston and should know more in a couple of days plus he did say they look like they were running hot,but hopefully he warranties all the work.will keep posted

you will be lucky if he warrenties the engine with a MBC. All the ebay sites that sell MBC say "not responsible for engine damage". If you run 20psi on cast pistons with stock fuel system, your just asking for trouble.
Be glad it wasnt a 04 jetta or something

The rebuilder doesn't know anything about the mbc because I took the engine out myself and took it to him.I just got the motor back on friday and I didn't have to pay a nickle. He said the #1 piston was cracked in four places and that apparantly hypertechtic pistons have been known to fail in turbo engines. So he ordered .20 pistons from dodge dealership.Motor is almost in and ready to go.I will keep updated
