Internal Logic Module Problem

My '89 CSX is throwing a Code 53 which my book says is an "Internal logic module problem". I'm not sure where to look for this or what to repair/replace. Any help would be mucho appreciated. Thanks. JB

Sounds like there's a problem with your computer. Do you have or know of anyone with an extra '89 CSX or '90 Shadow VNT computer? Or maybe try disconnecting your battery and resetting the computer. Try that and see what happens.

Is it still the stock computer? One with a custom calibration will also give the same code. Generally as long as the car runs fine don't worry about it, as that code doesn't affect drivability all by itself.

If it is a stock computer and has not been modified, then it may be an indication of a problem developing. Usually it is caused by the 'check sum' calculation failing (which is why custom cals do it). But if the data has not degraded to cause a check sum failure, it could mean that there is an issue with the actual processor unit.

That explains it. The computer has a custom TU calibration. Thanks for the quick responses. JB
