Would there be an advantage to putting in a bigger intercooler on a vnt with a 16psi cal and 2.5'' catback?

Yep, you bet!

I have an aftermarket intercooler that I used on my 2.2 VNT GLH. At the time the only mods I used were a home made 2.5" exhaust with CATCO cat and Borla 3" muffler, DSM BOV and the intercooler. This is with the stock computer. I was spinning the tires going into 4th gear. It was overboost so badly that all I could do was smile. I have a FWDP cal that I was gonna put on there, but that night the headgasket went, so now I'm rebuilding.

So I guess to answer your question, there is an advantage. You'll spool faster with good throttle response and you'll stay cooler. But remember, bigger isn't always better! LOL Click on my name and check out my CD page to see the intercooler.

I was told by a Chryser engineer familiar with the VNT designs that the intercooler on my 90 Daytona VNT is far more restrictive than the stock T2 type intercooler. I am not planning on any more changes or upgrades to the car, but if I was, an intercooler upgrade would be my next one.

I've heard the same thing Barry, I think it was on the SDML years ago (Gus maybe?). I think there were differences in the S60, T2, T4, and R/T intercoolers, but don't quote me on this. In my old age I tend to forget many things! LOL But give it a shot, it'll be worth it.
