I have an aftermarket intercooler that I used on my 2.2 VNT GLH. At the time the only mods I used were a home made 2.5" exhaust with CATCO cat and Borla 3" muffler, DSM BOV and the intercooler. This is with the stock computer. I was spinning the tires going into 4th gear. It was overboost so badly that all I could do was smile. I have a FWDP cal that I was gonna put on there, but that night the headgasket went, so now I'm rebuilding.
So I guess to answer your question, there is an advantage. You'll spool faster with good throttle response and you'll stay cooler. But remember, bigger isn't always better! LOL Click on my name and check out my CD page to see the intercooler.
