Porting the head (properly) will always be a benefit. But because the VNT was origianlly made for a smaller displacement engine, you can upgrade your exhaust and reap the benefits at a cheaper cost.
There's someone on the SDML in Florida selling an '89 CSX with a TU header, exhaust and I "think" a ported head. He says it screams and spins the tires all day! LOL
