No, it will work GREAT
I run that turbo with our FWD-P 16 psi comp
You won't gain boost, you will gain more airflow at same boost levels. My VNT has no issues at 18 psi either, but I normally run 16 psi (I have a trim cal so I have 4 diff. boost settings available)
later,
Cindy

Don't know about how fast because that depends on a LOT of factors including traction, driver etc.....
But I know Clark Hickman dynoed his CSX-VNT with a 2.5 and 16 psi cal and got 232 hp out of it. I haven't taken mine to the track, but with the zero lag vnt set-up it's a blast to drive. I would say with an avarage driver and average 60 ft times, you would be in the low 14's.
later,
Cindy

cindy, I bought a new garret t25 about a year ago from you. I would like to upgrade to a t28, could i just send you my t25 to you and pay the difference from a t28 plus labor? ide like to eventually run 18psi.

Providing everything is fine with the turbo, we can rebuild it with a new t28 wheel and machine the housing. You would be looking at about $450 for a rebuild and upgrade.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hey Cindy! Guess what, that new Garret t25 i bought a year ago just blew all the oil seals, so i need a turbo. I now have two VNT t25 with fried seals, since i'm needin a good turbo i'm gonna go ahead and upgrade to a t28. is there a possibility in me giving you my extra VNT turbo for a discount on the rebuild? I also have my stock forged crank that needs to be turned if youd want that? Thanks again for all your great help!

is there any limit to the vnt28 boostwise, i know its bad to boost over 16psi wit a vnt25(i should be learning this lesson soon myself), would a vnt28 have as much power potental as a t-2, and how does vnt on the vnt28 compare to how fast it spools on a regualar vnt25, thanks

I was wondering the same myself, as I'm considering it as maybe a winter upgrade for my Lebaron. Also, what size swingvalve do they come with and can that be changed to mate a 3" exhaust without a flange?

On the intake side, what are the specs, and how big is the turbo outlet, because I'm not a huge fan of the 1 3/4" outlet on my VNT25.

One of the main reasons the general public is told to not boost over 16-18psi on a VNT is the turbo shaft. Compared to a T2 shaft, it's smaller and 'can' be more prone to breaking. Another reason is at higher boost levels with the same compressor housing, you're reaching the limits of the turbo's output-have you seen a VNT's compressor map? LOL The bigger wheel is a big bonus as far as upgrades are concerned, because we are limited with this turbo (unless you have a S60 VNT). I would say the spool time would be noticed 'slightly'-I notice on my S60 VNT that there is about a 200-400 rpm range difference in spool time, but I have an aluminum flywheel and a 2.5 (instead of 2.2) to help out. But at that range, the power is already there. I can punch it in fifth gear and the turbo responds with power.

A VNT28 having as much power potential as a T-2? Hmmm 'close', but they are two differenct turbos made specifically for two different power bands. The T-2 can be pushed to around 22psi where as the VNT 'should' be around 16-20 (to be on the safe side) and at those levels, the T-2 is making more power. I know there are people that ran higher boost for long periods, but those are the lucky ones.

The swingvalve for the VNT is standard for all applications, but I'm having a 3" one made for the S60 VNT. It'll be able to rotate left to right by way of extra bolt holes so when I use it with the TBI header, it'll clear the firewall.

Pretty much. Hard to find though. I think Turbonetics made them, but they're not for sale anymore. Try asking other mopar nuts and see what you can find.
