Well if the VNT is so complicated to modify, how hard is it to convert over to a T-2 setup. I'm really into my Daytona but everything seems rather limited with the VNT, but I love the throttle response and the fact that it is the most comfortable car i have ever driven. If it is not that hard to convert over to a T-2 I would gladly do that.

As I understand it all that is really needed is a TII turbo with new coolant and oil lines and a grainger valve. I am unsure if the VNT boost control will work, probably not....Never tried to deal with it. Plug the two vacuum lines going to the VNT actuator. Wrap the VNT turbo in some plastic, keep it in a cool dry place incase you need to put it back on. Everything else should match up, exhaust mani, intercooler tubing. Might run into a glitch with the air intake?, it could be a different diameter than the TII, but those hoses are real easy to come by.

It wouldn't be too hard to do. Remove the head with manifolds, swap turbos and reinstall for the tough part.

might have issues with the computer and drivability ... VNT doesnt have the same fuel / timing tables. im thinking of doing the same but getting a TII computer and rearranging the connector to it to match the turbo II.

Just get a TII turbo, the oil and coolant lines, MBC valve, exhaust manifold, and a custom calibration. The intake tube from the VNT will fit right on the turbo inlet. The turbo outlet lines right up with the intercooler pipe. The exhaust downpipe mounts into the TII swingvalve, I cannot tell you for sure whether the alignment will need modified though. I did the switch awhile back to an S60 with the quickspool option and it hits quick at around 2500rpm. It also makes the car accellerate much harder at the same amount of boost. The biggest benefit is not having to worry about injuring the like glass VNT turbo anymore.

so my list of parts will look like this?

T2 turbo
T2 swingvalve
T2 exhaust manifold
custom calibration (found one for just such a project at FWD, but requires 3bar map and 40% injectors)
T2 oil and coolant lines (whats the difference)

and thats it? what kind of power difference can I expect with this setup at 18 lb's of boost if anyone has a guestamate?

Do not waste your funds on the FWD Perf 3 bar. Their VNT swap computers straight up suck. I am on the second one they sent me and this one still does not communicate any data. It tends to be a bit lean at idle and cruise and WAY too rich at full throttle. I came across someone with a chip burner and calibration software. We are working together to try and get my computer back to working right. Contact Turbos Unleashed and see if you can get one from them. I have heard nothing but great news about their 3bar cals. I really like Cindy and their products but this computer issue really tee'd me off. Never had any other issues with their products though.
