What would cause zero boost intermittendly? Guage just stops at
Zero, and car will not pull.

Check your intercooler hoses.

If it was an intercooler hose, would this cause an intermittend problem? Could my
blow off valve be sticking open?
Dirk.

Possibly, wouldn't hurt to check it.
A couple weeks ago I couldn't pull pass 7lbs of boost. Even if I gunned it, would do anything. Turned the radio down and went for a drive. Heard a big "whoosh" sound as I got on the gast. Sometimes it would boost a bit higher, other times it wouldn't. Turns out there was a huge rip in my hose from the turbo to the intercooler and when the engine rocked, it would give me a bit more boost as it moved the rip closer together. LOL
But in your case, intermittent being the key word (which I overlooked last time ). Let's look at the things that control boost first.
How's the solenoid wires? Check the solenoid wire that leads to the canister top nipple. There might be a short there. Check your BOV as well. Are you getting any codes? <scratching head> How long have you been experiencing this and was it an all-of-a-sudden thing or what?

Here's the deal, ran fine this morning, I was feeling pretty fast, until a
Lancer Evolution pulled up next to me, OOPS, luckily he did'nt want to play
and neither did I. When I went out to lunch no boost,
then boosted 12-14psi 1st to 3rd gear. I shut the car off, ate, and after that
no boost back to work. Going home 50miles with a few stops, no boost.
I don't hear any turbo, no blow off, no nothing. I looked everything over all
hoses look fine. No air leaks, did notice cruise vacuum line blew off turbo
housing again, this should'nt do it. Goes from 15vac to 0 on the guage and
stops at zero like the guage needle hits a wall. Drives like a guttless non turbo
car. I am starting to wonder if my turbine wheel is turning at all, I am going to
remove the air cleaner boot, and see if the turbine wheel still spins freely.
I do agree, even if the vanes are stuck, I should notice some sound, turbo noise,
a little boost, or anything. Please help. Thx.
Dirk.

I talked to Chris at Turbos Unleashed, he suggested putting the VNT on a
shelf, and installing the T2 that came off my 87 CSX, and running the
boost off a grainger valve. I might do that, I think my boost will be a lot
more consistent.

I just got back in the house from removing the air cleaner boot. Turbine
wheel is rock solid. Now for plan B???

That is exactly why I am thinking of going to the TII, I did'nt like the boost
spikes, and was not real impressed with the VNT top end. I would rather
sacrifice having a little more lag, and having more top end and rock
solid boost, 14-15psi.
