I understand that you used an SRT clutch, did you look into using anything else? What was involved?

Daniel Merrill
I had the stock 2.5 clutch in it. Was working OK until it started slipping. These things just have gobs of low end torque. Even with the stock electronics.
And I'm just using a rising rate regulator to add a little more fuel.

Ok, What about clamping that 2.4L to A413?
I would imagine it would be the same as mating the 568. The bolt pattern is essentially the same. In fact, that is one of the options I'm looking at for my GLH.

Hey thanks. When I saw your pics in the early stages of your 2.4 build up, I thought I was looking at my '89 Shelby. It looked very close to what yours looks like. Mine is(was) also black. My brother owns it now.
Anyway, I would show shots of yours and ohiorob's car to some local ricers and say "this is what mine's going to look(& run) like".

If I'd known it was that easy, I'd have never built this 2.2 for my Shelby Charger.

I'll try to snap a few more pics of the mounts. Probably toward the end of the week.

I actually had all the parts to finish this exactly 3 yrs. ago. But illnesses in the family and other personal issues kept me from working on it until a month or two ago.

Hey, I don't mind answering any questions. A lot of people on this forum pulled through when I need certain things answered. Heck, you and ohiorob answered many by simply displaying your finished projects. Those were big inspirations for me to go with the 2.4 Instead of the hybrid which I had finished.

Anyway, this thing idles real smooth. I have 20" Hg at idle. Throttle response is very good.
I'm currently using the stock 2.5 electronics with a rising rate regulator. I talked to FWD about a custom SBEC which I will get when I upgrade the turbo. I'm currently using a stock TIII R/T turbo and a mexican manifold. The valvetrain is PT cruiser. Piston/rod combo is stock SRT-4. Rod and mains are also stock SRT-4.

Ive learned alot tuning this motor with the standalone ecu as far as timing with the pent roof style head they are so efficient they dont need hardly any advance under boost,as a matter of fact it actually kills the power, figured that out very quickly. It is a very smooth running engine compared to the 2.2 t-2,ive ran my best street tire time ever on 7 psi out of the hole and going to 15 in 2nd gear, still spinning badly. All you guys that think the mounts are a problem, that is actually one of the easiest things about the swap.I owe rob pachner a big thank you he helped out with just about everything.

Is that you Paul? If it is, man I wish you could've seen the look on the Subaru guys when you left the parking lot in your van doing that holeshot. I mean, it was priceless. Those guys were totally speechless. And I mean it literally. Those guys didn't know what to say. I still laugh just thinking about it.
