Anyway, this thing idles real smooth. I have 20" Hg at idle. Throttle response is very good.
I'm currently using the stock 2.5 electronics with a rising rate regulator. I talked to FWD about a custom SBEC which I will get when I upgrade the turbo. I'm currently using a stock TIII R/T turbo and a mexican manifold. The valvetrain is PT cruiser. Piston/rod combo is stock SRT-4. Rod and mains are also stock SRT-4.

Well, the SRT4 and PT turbos have larger oil passages in the back, but I think that maybe a 2004 option only I dunno. Either way, you are better off with a SRT or PT motor. Why? The pumps provide more pressure than the stratus which should be better for the turbo. And, it provides a good safe platform to build HP on. Nothing new is required, no new rods, pistons, etc. It's all there.

There are several posts with links on the matter her eint eh 16V thread section, do a search, you'll find them. Or do a search for Kid Doc posts in the 16V hybrid area.

You can EASILY achieve that with a stock SRT4 motor. Up your goal to 500hp

Well....
The motor will bolt to the tranny, with a few minor tweaks.
The clutch from a 2.2 will work, taking care of any clutch fitment issues.
From what i see, it appears that with some creative thinking, the front and passener side motor mount will bolt up.
Radiator, intake, I/c, fuel, and exahust piping would all be just routing them properly.
Axles would be the standard 568 in a L body swap. ( late model tbi i think)
Im new to the whole 2.4 deal as far as what yall are doing for engine management. I assume there is some way to run it on stock electronics, but a standalone would be preferred.
So my only real questions would be:
What to do for electronics, could you use a newer srt/pt harness/ecu or is stand alone the only option?
Will the stock intake and exhaust manifolds from a srt-4 or a pt be ideal to use, or would you use a mexican manifold and whatever else on the intake side...
Is anyone else half as excited as i am to be reading that this all is actually possible?

Hey it's lookin' real good. Nice work. Not to sound like Im nagging here, but your BOV line wont work too well at the TB. I tried this on my 8v and it doesnt hold it shut too well.

You're probably right. This thing is only running stock boost right now. Turbo and stock intercooler at this time.
Snow season coming. It's coming apart soon for some upgrades.

I see the indy intake and was wondering what TB you are using and how does the distributor mount to the cam ? Also is there any other electrical mods you have to do to make it all work on the stock electronics ? The more I look at this I am thinking more and more about a 2.4 swap in a P body.
|
  |
I'm using the Stratus TB. I had to plug the the IAC hole in the intake as this was meant to use a Neon TB.
I made a distributor housing out of billet aluminum and transfered the stock distrubutor internals. It'll have to be modded to fire backwards. You'll have to swith the signal wires somewhere between the distributor and SBEC. I did it at the SBEC. The two wires are at the SBEC 60 way connector. Swap terminal 24 with terminal 44.
The reason I made the distributor is because I had planned on offering it for sale but you can just make an adapter to use you're existing distributor.
My computer crashed and I lost my EMS files and I don't know when I'm going to design another one, so I scrapped that Idea.
Anyway, hope this helps.
Carlos

MAN
You and Kedavis talk way over my head !
I thought I was pretty good with cars, but this custom stuff gets me thinking way to hard.I just get confused on the electronics.I know if i seen how it was done in person then I would be thinking "I can do this".I will say you 3 guys are a real asset to the turbo dodge community. While people like myself are amazed by your ability.NICE JOB !
