I believe the 2.2l 16V turbo is the same as the 8V 2.2l turbo, 8.1:1

Do you mean the 16v head with stock 2.2L pistons? If so, the 16v 2.0l head has a larger comb chamber volume and therefore will lower it. I went through a massive data collection and calculated it at close to 8.0 to 1. But I decked the block .012 and the head .010" to get this. It may even be lower because I am having no detonation problems with mid grade gas, I THINK.

i need to bring this up, as i'm playing with the idea of going hybrid by the end of 2007

so you say, if i go 2.2 crank with 2.2l 8v pistons (forged of course) i would be close to 8.0:1 CR?

i have done a couple of searches and haven't found the answer to this questions:
2.2 crank with 2.2 pistons AND stock rod height -> possible?

btw: 2.0 neon head!

Use the forged aftermarket Tlll pistons. They already have the correct valve relief. The stock ones will have your compression ratio closer to 9.0. The aftermarket ones have a deeper dish on top of the piston. I am not sure that regular forged 8v pistons would work. I have a set of stock Tll pistons I can mock it up and measure if you need. It would probably be on sunday before I can do it.

andre, that would be great if you can do that!

i'd like to have something around 8.0 : 1, and of course using my existing 8v pistons would help me keeping the cost factor down, but then again, if the tIII pistons are helping me more, then i'd go for them!

I'm just interested to know if the 2.2 8V pistons will work with the head...I've heard/read the 2.5 ones will...

I have a set of psitons that are supposed to yeild 8.2:1 compression on an 8V set-up using a G-head.
