I've already got a copper td head gasket the block and head are getting o-ringed w/custom head dowels. What I want to know why is every one using the neon mls gasket? Or could the td unit be used?

The problem is around the area of the T-stat and vent portion
of the 8v block. The 16v head has vent like our block, but 8v
gasket does not cover it. Likewise coolant passages of 16v
head not coverd by 8v gasket.

O ringing the block is not necessary and the copper head gasket are a pain to seal if they do at all. go with a good mls and srp head studs and it should take whatever you can dish out. just my 2 cents.

SRP? Is that a missprint or something better than ARP? (not being a smart ass here, I heard another company was being recomended in the SRT community but don't know the name)

well I was thinking of o-ringing it after all of the problems Leon had with the mls, yes he blew a few of them both mopar and cometic I belive. When I last talked to hip he said that he was having problems with the head moving around on the block, both block and head were surfaced and arp's were being used. I will cut the block with the groove for the o-ring andnot install the oring just use an mls to start if I have probelms I can always put a copper in but I am leaning towards using a copper to start with and skip the whole mls deal. I've talked to a few blower motor guys and heard that the o-rings act like a "locator" of sorts and keep the head from moving around.

I used the "td" gasket. I modified the head. Mine is not running yet so I dont know how well it will work. I was hoping to get it done this winter but I got busy and now I have to get my sprint car ready. I doubt if my shadow will get done anytime soon

Do you not have the locating pins installed in the head bolt holes of the block? This keeps the head from moving at all. There is info in the above stickys and also some threads on it. With them installed the head will not move at all.
