PITA compared to the DSM TMO software. I've used both.

For my 16V, i'l go with flashable smec, much more easy to do, but no dataloging available for now..maybe....
May be easier but how accurate is the tune going to be? On a custom motor I can't see the calibration being much more than an estimated or base tune. I'm sure they know what they're doing but there's no way they can give me a perfect tune based on me telling them what turbo and how much boost etc. I'm going to run. Am I wrong? Just like when using a stand alone. You start w/ a base map and tune from there.

A vendor isn't going to give you a FLASHABLE computer.. This guy is talking about doing the custom cal himself.

PROS:
  1. easy datalogging, I already use the software for datalogging my Colt.
  2. can use SAFC
  3. can later use DSM link for full manual control of engine
  4. CHEAP, at least for me
I already have a parts car w/ ECU and harness. I have an extra SAFC. All my friends that are smarter than me are familiar w/ the DSM stuff. I won't have to pay for a custom cal and when I make changes to the car I won't have to send my computer back for changes. My only real expense will be a Mass air translator ($200) since I will be using a blow through GM Mass air(free). I don't know what a custom cal + 3 bar map will cost, but I'm sure it's more than $200.
CONS:
  1. I will have to adapt a DSM cam angle sensor
  2. having to wire it in
As far as I know all I need is the injector harness, tps, coolant temp, knock sensor, O2 sensor, and coil pack. I already (with help from friends) wired my Colt this way and it wasnt bad at all. I would have to add all the same sensors to the 16 valve setup to run the dodge electronics anyway.
Are you doing a hybrid? Why not use the DSM head, intake mani. and exhaust man. too. Do the head bolts/bores line up? You save a bundle and the part are CHEAP. Then the CAS will be setup right from the start. Then you could go with DSM injectors too and just tune it like a stroker DSM.

I have seen several posts where people wer going to use a head from a mitsu. It was probably the 420a head and not a 4G63 head, but that is why I said to check. (he has the stuff already for free) The hybrid motor using the neon head is not exactly bolt on either. Unless plugging the head, block, running external lines and changing cam gears is stock. As long as the bores and head bolts match it is the same amount of work. But hey I am not a Bain Sturgin
