Yes, the regular sohc head would be an improvement over a stock 8v head. But, the magnum head is different on the exhaust side. You will spend some serious cash to get a regular sohc head to flow what a magnum does stock. port both and the magnum will destroy the sohc on the exhaust. Intake side is the same. Magnum heads will have R/T cast into them by the thermostat housing on the front of the motor on passenger side. If someone wants to host the pictures for me, I'll send you some via email to post here. You can see the intake, header and I'll shoot some of the ports and show the difference between magnum and sohc. And show where I am using feed and return lines.
