It "should", minor tweeking on your part no matter the head.
See no major hurdle in the Avenger head other than the obvious
changes mounting a 16v on a dinasaur 8v.

I would like the exhaust up front, ala Honda. Routing to the back isn't a big deal, it just goes under the oil pan. That might be an issue if you car is really low to the ground, then a custom oil pan would be needed with a hump in the middle to clear the exhaust.

This maybe a little out there, but to me it seems the neon head would make more power during acceleration. The fuel and exhuast is flowing with the pull of the car, as opposed to flowing against it. Speaking of honda's they went to the same design as a neon in there K-series motor and make great power. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, thats right, never even clued in, exhaust in the back, intake at the front. Makes more sense for exhaust routing in our ever shrinking engine bays, hood lines and lower cars.

I dont think an "internal" combustion engine cares what direction
it points under acceleration. Likewise a fuel rail at 80psi doesnt
care what direction up/down is or braking force. A turbine jet
would be a different story I would guess.

another thing you need to worry about is that if you put the avenger head on then the turbo is going to be sitting where pretty plug wires like to poke out of the distributor on a normal 8 valve 2.2/2.5....... unless of course you use coil packs..... or mount the distributor on the end of the head

This is probably going to sound stupid, but to avoid any major melt downs would coating, or adding a heat sheild help. I realize those divert a rather minor amount of heat when talking about being so close to plastics, but could combining them help out much. Or how about a custom header that would put the turbo over the trans? It would reduce the amount of heat directly in contact with the distributor and wires. That's my $.02 atleast, I'm sure there are more efficient ways to do this though.
