Has any one tryed to use an avenger head on an 8v block. If i am right that would put the exhaust in the front. But unlike the 420a in an 2g eclipes the motor and trans are mounted like a neon. I know the piston to valve clearance will be an issue what help me out will it work.

Its the same head just backwards. Darrel Cox is using
it on his SRT4 to put the header where they wanted.

do you know how much work is neaded to put it on an srt? I know there is some modifications to put a normal420a head on an srt. just wondering if all you had to do was make the coolant pasages bigger. like the normal 420a head.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to use this head on an SRT4?? If there both stock the SRT head will out perform it. With it being so close to the rad, I'd be afraid of it making the car possibly run a little hotter at low speeds and idle.

it doesnt seem to effect Evo's and DSM's, with the turbo being in the front.

I'm not really sure if this would work. But we've seen headers that put the turbo over top of the trans, couldn't you do the same thing in this case? Just wondering if it's even be worth trying.

Other than the nightmare of routing exhaust to the rear on a street car
I kinda like the idea of having the exhaust up front on a crossflow head
in a FWD car.

You rarely will ever remove intake to modify it but swapping comp wheels
and covers could be done on the car. If you stick with an internal wastegate
adjusting or testing would be a snap. There is a lot more room to build a
cool header without the firewall in the way, can always tweek the radiator.
Would sure be easy to move the turbo up thru the hood facing forward
like it should be

Just get the header ceramic coated and put header wrap on it would be bad at all. How hard are the heads to find i have not started looking.

I have one in the shop now and saw another one the last time I was at the Pic-N-Pull. I'm sure there are guys that can chime in that see a dozen every time they go to the JY and others that have yet to see a single one there.

I've actually been looking into this for a while. I don't have pics, unfortunately, but it seems to me that the Avenger and Neon heads are different castings, but the only difference is that the intake and exhaust ports are swapped. All of the oil and water ports are identical, including the waterneck inlet.

As far as price goes, looking on ebay, they are pretty much going for the same as a Neon head. I'll see if I can;t find some photos somewhere to prove this.

On the left is the Avenger/Mitsubishi version of the head. On the right is a 2.4L Stratus/minvan version.

The water ports on the bottom switch sides like the intake/exhaust ports, but the oil ports do not. Obviously the oil ports aren't important, since they are blocked off anyway, but does anyone have an idea how much of an impact the water ports will have?

The Avenger picture needs to be turned 180*, the oil drains are
in the same location but the water ports are not. The easiest way
to picture this is note the oddball corner head bolt hole, the one
that is teardrop shaped goes to the drivers rear side it is the old
oil pressure feed when stock.

Anyway the coolant passages are a little wonky but they are a little
off anyway when your convert. Im sure a little die grinding around
the coolant passages would do wonders. Cool option I would try it
just to simplify some of the previously mentioned benifits but also
plumbing your drains may be easier not having to worry about 1400*
temp exhaust manifold close bye.

Any more Pics of the avenger head Timmmmaaayyyyyy ?

I fixed it, just for you, Russ.
I have only one other picture. I stole them from various eBay auctions. This is the exhaust side.
