Im a fiero fan above all and my 87GT is my main car, but lately I have been wanting a turbo car really bad so I was thinking of what kind of car to get to do a turbo buildup. I want something light, cheap, and not ugly. So I was looking into spirits because I think they are the coolest looking turbo dodge, but they are really heavy so I decided on a shadow which looks about the same and is a lot lighter.

Anyway im shooting for 500hp and this car will only be a somewhat daily driver. So I figure (shadow + 2.4 out of an Srt-4) + manual trans + lotsa boost = perfect

So the only real thing I am worried about is bolting the engine to the trans, are they the same bolt pattern or is there an adapter for it? What issues am I going to be running into?

I couldn't say it any better myself, although I do love the Daytona's and 2DR Shadow's also. I think I got my Spirit down to 2700-2800 w/ me in it. I'm not positive but I took out way more than I put in thats for sure.

Here is the best looking one I've seen, its a 3.0 5spd, hey not turbo but I'd sport it. Its "Cromax"'s car here is his page:http://www.cardomain.com/ride/774423/3

Anyway The 2.4 doesn't bolt to the old transmissions, but at leats one person has made it work w/ an adapter bracket
2.4L 5spd

As far as I know the 2.4 bolts up to our trans minus 1 bolt. If you planning on 5 speed you may want to look into using the SRT4 trans also and fabing in a hydraulic clutch. The stock shadow trans will not hold that much power. The other option is a auto with a RMVB. Most high HP guys go this route.

A t-850 is probably going to be too big to fit in an older platform. It's use in the srt-4 already requires a different rack to keep from rubbing the drivers tire on the end plate. A 568 or a 555 would have no problems holding that much power with a good rebuild and in the case of a 555 a moly plate.

so it bolts up except one bolt? Sounds like that wont be much of an issue. Has anyone done this to a shadow before and documented it, like a thread or webpage?

How much can the A-555 handle with the moly plate? I hate having to worrying if my tranny will blow apart so I want something that I know is strong enough

As much as a 568, so 500hp should be ok. But if you wanted to take every precaution a 92+ 568 is the way to go, the larger input shaft would be the last upgrade you could do over a 555 or a 90-91 568.

As long as you dont mexi-mod it out, the Omnis look awesome lowered. My grandfather drives an acclaim so there goes that. Plus, with minor modification, the L bodies can weigh just under 2000 lbs.

The electronics will probably be the hardest part to figure out. The VTSS on SRT-4s along with all the CAN buses will cause all sorts of problems I would imagine.

An aftermarket stand alone will probably be needed. I would go for Megasquirt, but last I heard you have to do some stuff for it to read the cam and/or crank signal since it's not like every other car or something.
