was curious if anybody else is doing this. i just got underway with my project and im setting it up to run on E85 since its readily avaliable near me.

if you are running E85 what type of setup do you have and how is it working for ya?

if you are planning to run E85 what changes are you going to make?

does anyone know where to find some tuning info or someone who has experience working with this stuff?
thanks
nate

there were some threads I found on turbomopar and links to turbo mustang or something. Basically you need more fuel as alky needs more to get the same as gas. Example, if you are using all of 52lb injectors and want to run straight alky then you'll need 104lb injectors or 8x 52lbs.

We do quite a bit of tuning with E85. Stoic. a/f is 9:1 so you will want to be around 7ish for forced induction. We built a turbo truck that can run on E85. Megasquirt has an option for E85. We installed a fuel sensor like what a new GM has and the megasquirt can tell how much ethanol is in the fuel and adjust pulse width accordingly using a scaler table. E85 is good octane just dont forget that you will use approx 40% more E85 than "normal" fuel.
Personally on my TD I tuned on premium gas and bring on methanol injection with boost. I have run 32 psi on pump gas and methanol injection.

im gonna just run it on E85 all the time- its all over around me so its pretty convienient. will it work ok with a normal wideband using megasquirt or did you have to use somthing specific? rough estimate of injector size to flow enough fuel to support 550 hp?

I'd go w/ at least 1000CC injectors. For the MS there is a part you can add that uses the gas sensor to determine how much alky is in the gas and adjusts the fuel accordingly. Any wideband works, just look for a different value, my LC-1 can be set for gas/alky and others

you can run a normal WB O2 with E85. You will have to change the settings in the controller (atleast thats how my LC-1 works). I plan on doing the same thing. I was looking into the turbo III pistons to give me slightly higher compression to squeeze a little bit more work out of E85. You might want to plan on something like that, especially if you want to run E85 all the time. Also, be careful on cold starts (E85 is a BEOTCH!!!).

your injector size recomendation is about what i figured i'd need- 1000 cc or 106 pph
started doing a lil thinking and i'll probably add that sensor to mine, cause i might end up in an area where e85 isint avaliable.
i ordered pistons last week (merry x mas to me! ) forged weiscos with 8.5 comp. ratio
the winters around here are gettin milder every year so im not concerened about cold start issues, but im not gonna drive it much durring the cold months either- my truck has remote start
