RE: adatptor

I have a new application for your adaptor if it is properly debugged.

I have a NYG coupe that I want to turbo with the srt turbo. I was wondering about using your adaptor to run a smec to control the 2.0 turbo. Since it is a 1995 OBD1 based car the codes will not be scanned and using your adaptor I could just use the core of the '89 wiring to run the injectors and timing.

Let me know because the 2.0 turbo project (with full AC) is calling me.

Swapped the coilpack wires and injector wires to turn the firing order 1 cylinder ahead. Completely stock 2001 2.4.

Talk about timing, your most recent post wasn't there when I hit reply, but it is in the condensed version below the type in area...

Sounds like an intersting project, did you consider swapping in the whole SRT motor? Its actually pretty easy if you can cut and weld.

That is my omni glht project (except that it is a 2.4 w/srt rods).

The neon is called project cheap ass commuter (with ac ). Just bolt the turbo on the back of a DOHC 95 neon under 10PSI with a proper computer, injectors and intercooler and a 3.0" exhaust and try to squeeze 50mpg and 250WHP from a stock bottom end neon.

What is the status. Are you at the building, debugging, testing or shipping stage?

Looking good for finishing it this week. Spent the weekend fixing a couple minor things with the decoding, just have to get the HEP outputs coded and its done.

HEP basic output is coded, just need to get the "missing" parts of the pulses in. I'll continue on it tomorrow night, driving the FSAE car tomorrow .

^^ hey cool! I just got back from the FHSAE competition up in New Hampshire last week!

My school, Embry-Riddle, took second overall!

Good luck! Let us know how you guys do...that's a very tough competition.

And done. All I have to do is optimize and add some special case handling, and it should be good to go.

We already competed at VIR, didn't do too well. Testing out some stuff for the design of next year's car. Congrats on second! A lot of interesting powertrain setups at the hybrid competition?

Definatly. Vermont had an AWD car. There were a lot of series hybrids. Some are running parallel. All are running heavy duty, expensive, and complex controlers for the electric motors...except us! We used a mechanical system to control the power being added or subtracted by the motor(running a parrallel system with ultracaps). We were the ONLY team to not have an EE on the team at all(we did have a EP...he got interviewed by the news!). We had the lightest car at the competition at 587#'s. I'm going to post pictures of it soon. I gotta get the pictures off of my camera, then transfer them to my USB stick with my laptop, then post them on the net with my desktop! LOL. Laptop can't get online at my house.

We are also thinking about starting a 2-year car. This one is already WAY ahead of everybody else, but we wanna stay that way This year's car has monoshock suspension front and back, carbon fiber A-arms out back, a CNC'd 6160 aluminum transaxle, CNC uprights out back, CNC wheel centers out back...the list is pretty long. This car will be used again next year(we can do that for the hybrid competition) with upgrades to the front suspension, and refinement to the control system.

again good luck!

So have the final upgrades/finishing touches been done?

I would like to test this out in two vehicles that are near the finish point.

My 2.4 omni turbo and my 95 NYG neon coupe 2.0 with srt turbo. I figure I would test the module in both.

i too am looking to try out this adapter in anticipation of building a hybrid but ill be testing it out on my 8v k car and just use the neon coil to drive the stock stuff to see how it works before building the hybrid.

Ours weighs 427, pretty much all carbon except for the drivetrain. We (Lehigh) had the lightest car in '05 at somewhere around 380. I kind of wish we could use the same car again and spend more time designing more advanced components but we can't.

New rar:

I'm happy with the Non-NGC code. New schematic showing the different blocks of the circuit, pretty easy to see how they interconnect. As for Non-NGC, max retard/advance is 60 degrees, base timing is fixed at 9 degrees BTDC (consequense of the crank waveform). I'll send out the test one tomorrow.

WOW!! I heard the really light cars were in the 300's, but WOW!! You got any pictures of that car? We weighed ours in the shop before and it was only 485. Without the hybrid stuff it would have been really low 400's.

What class are you guys running? (what size engine ect.?) as I know that has a huge effect on what the car ends up weighing...
