I'll let you know. Boards arrived this morning, I'm assembling one now and hope to have a completed unit by tonight.

In my opinion this will revolutionize the 16V swaps & opens up a lot of possibilities, The 2.4 in a Dakota can't use the distributor off the cam as it won't clear the firewall.

Put one together, after many hours of figuring out why my "HEP simulator" wasn't working, I finally got it all programmed and working. I'll try out the hybrid version on my Daytona tomorrow and maybe the Carb/TBI version on my Rampage this weekend. I should be able to get turbo.shaft's out by Monday so we can see if non-NGC works. School just kills my time...

And to answer your question from the other thread turbo.shaft, I've been working around cars since as long as I can remember, I started with electronics when I was around 10?. I decided to build a CNC Mill in 9th grade, during the course of which I was introduced to the wonderful world of microcontrollers and really started to work with electronics. I started coding in BASIC in 6th grade, moving up to C/C++ and eventually Assembly. Its amazing what you can do with some time, the internet/library, and a whole bunch of old printers and computers for parts. Never actually got that mill running, but I did get a couple CNC plotters working...

I'm also working on one of these:

Propeller Clock on a Mirror
(not mine btw, mine's red/blue and doesn't have a cool mirror)
Its been around for a couple years now, I just keep coming up with other things to work on (turbo van).

So how do you set your base timing with the Neon coilpack?

The wasted spark system will trigger the timing light twice as often so it could cause problems. Technically sampling twice as often is fine but I am not sure if a common timing light and human eye can handle it.

It probably doesn't really matter with the 2.4 swap since it wouldn't be adjustable anyway but for the hybrid that uses the stock distributor and HEP with your converter it might be a problem...

Have you tried to set base timing this way?

I propably have the basic skills to do the same things, but the real world time constraints are a killer and I still don't have kids yet. But, the wife insists on trying

My timing light actually doesn't work with the Neon wires. There's no problem with it firing on 1+4, but I guess they suppress the spike too well. I'll try taping an old TD wire on the coilpack post and see if I can get it like that. Timing is fixed on the 2.4's, so it isn't an issue there.

I probaby have less than 20 hours in the code and harware, but there is a huge learning curve behind all that. It's all relatively easy to figure out, but you just have to put the time into it.

My next project is to put a 2.0 DOHC turbo in an omni and rev it to 8500 rpm (boom ). what issues are involved using a 95-99 2.0 DOHC instead of the 2.4 for the hep emulator?

Not a thing

Exact same crank and cam encoding as a 2.4, hence why you can drop the 2.4's in an old neon with no mods at all.
