Since it's been so long since i'v been on here i'll give a quick refresher on my setup.
BOTTOM END-2.2 forged crank,Eagle Hbeams, Venolia pistons=Junk more on that later. balanced
HEAD-stock 95 2.0, stock cams, FWD adjustable gears
EXHAUST-custom ShearerFab manifold, T-61, Tial 44, 3"
ELECTRONICS-1990 DSM turbo wiring harness and ECU, SAFC, GM 3" blow through MAF, with MAF translator
MISC-880 injectors, modified 2.0 intake, 24"x 8" up/down flow intercooler, DSM throttle body, Walbro 255
Well I did get it running so my biggest ? about the whole project was answered: can I run any 4 cyl off the dsm wiring? It was very easy. Once the harness was stripped of all the unneccessary junk wiring it to the motor was straightforward. The only challenge was the cam angle sensor. I had to make an adapter plate and then just cut a slot in the end of the cam to accept the tabs on the CAS. Under the dash all I had left to do was power up the ECU which was 3 hots and a ground. The MAF translator for the GM MAF was a direct plug in made for 1st gen DSM's (the GM MAF and translator are optional if you want to run a stock MAF or run a 2nd gen DSM MAF which is only good up to about 400whp)
I ran the rest of the car off an 84 carb car harness since it it is much simpler than the 2 module turbo harness. I used it to run the lights, starter, charging sytem (with 84 external voltage regulator) and wipers. I was able to get rid of the underhood computer completely (spark control computer I think it was called on the carb cars)
So anyway. it ran, I drove it around the block, and it smoked out the whole street and rattled like a diesel. Bottom end is out and being sent back to the builder.
