This'll be in my blog later today, but I couldn't wait to show off the improvement.
The first picture is the natural colored intake, I didn't have the valve cover on for that picture, but it looked the same as the intake, if not worse.

That's Krylon Wrinkle paint out of a rattle can. It turned out very nice, looks like the real thing.

I've used that stuff before, it works very well.

I've seen the 2.5 in a Neon.. It got laughed out of the Neon forums.. But it apparently fits like a glove, and even bolts up to the stock Neon exhaust system..
Octane was 93 octane, 20% ethanol (E20), custom blend. :)

That's niel emiro's car. He loves the T3, the VNT turbo and the SBEC Ecu, for him at the time it was easier to put the T3 engine into a neon than to convert the n/a 2.0 to turbo. that car was before the ease of megasquirt and the SRT4.

Well that makes more sense since it was done a long time ago but it still seems wierd seeing a tIII in a neon

Drove the van on the old motor for the last time today. Got home and started tearing it apart. Since I plan to sell the head, I did a compression check to confirm it's still as healthy as it should be (only 50k miles on that head). 150psi on all 4 cylinder, give or take 5.. Amazing.. Hopefully by Monday I have the new motor sitting in that engine bay.

Well, I think it's pretty safe to say, there is no way to get the starter to fit on the back of a 2.0. That oil passage is just way too much in the way. Really need an extra half inch of clearance. Grinding the starter, and as much as I feel comfortable grinding off of the block, I got maybe 3/8".. I managed to force one of the starter bolts to start at that point, reefed it down, and cracked my bellhousing..
Off to find a Neon trans.. Getting that clutch cable to work is going to SUCK!

I ground into the starter until I was down to the spinning part inside it. STILL won't fit properly, and I don't think it has enough torque to crank the engine over with the magnet on that side gone now.. haha.. Can't say I didn't try.

Yeah.. Know of anyone that has gotten a Neon clutch cable to work with a TD? That and the motor mount on the Neon trans will be my next "issues".. Sooo tempted to just toss an auto on it..

Just for future reference... This is what you have to do to get a TD trans and it's starter to fit onto a 2.0 block:

The good news is you don't have to do ANY modifications to the starter at this point. It Just Fits.. :) Not a single grind mark on that starter anywhere.
There are 3 oil returns on the back of the 2.0 block. That was one of them. Now there are two. Redundant parts.. bah humbug. :)
There'll be far more details in my blog in the next hour or two.. :)

Ok, updated the blog.. Also compared a Neon trans to a TD trans.. The Neon trans would be a seriously big PITA to use. They seem to be a lot weaker than our transmissions anyways.

The motor is in. You gotta see what I did with the passenger side motor mount. Definitely no going back now! :)

Can you measure how thick the wall of the oil return is for me? I still think I can make a starter fit w/o cutting it like that. I have one of those nippo gear reduction starters you were looking for, and I have it real close to fitting. The regular starters don't come anywhere near fitting.

Sorry, I don't think I have any way of measuring it now. The parts that I cut off were already ground down pretty thin, and it's all plugged off and assembled at this point.

Damn, oh well, I'll just have to guess, I guess :) Looks like a 1/4" in the pic.
