Ok so I am currently building a turbo Omni and am well on my way building a t2 thanks to all the advice from people here.(best staff in the business) today my friend informed me he has a whole mess of SRT4 parts I can use to build another motor...Is there a way or is it better to use a SRT4 head on a 2.2turbo block?? Here is a list of what he has for me to use, any advice on what else I would need to make this work would be super appreciated. This would be going in a 1990 Omni...

SRT4 Parts list...

Downpipe, charge pipe(hot side), stage 2 waste gate, Mitsubishi T15 turbo, 20psi boost gauge, manual boost controller, stage 1 or stage 2 injectors, oil pressure gauge,air fuel gauge, Stage 2 SRT computer, intercooler.

Yes you can put a srt head on a common block but there are some things to be modified. Look in the Hybrid section.

Lake county has life time smog in Californniaa so as long as I keep it registered it won't be a issue

Cheaper for sure if I could do it myself...I don't have access to any machine shop equipment or welding equipment so the brackets/mounts would be a nightmare and I'd have to pay a garage waaay to much to fabricate anything. So I'm just gonna push as much as reliably possible out of a 2.2

if you can't make mounts for a whole SRT4 engine then you can't do the necessary mods to run an SRT4 head on a 2.2/2.5 shortblock.

Ok...i didn't even know I could run it until a few minutes ago.. I haven't read on the conversion process but I figured there would be a lot lesss welding an fabricating than an entire swap..I'll have to read up On it and maybe just do a full swap when I get the money to have someone weld/fab mounts

all but 1 bolt lines up between the 2.4 and 2.2 trans, they use the 2.2 flywheel and clutch. So 3 of the 4 mounts have holes placing them off the 2.2 trans. Then you use the Neon passenger side mount adapter for gen 1 neon and a poly passenger side mount. No fab unless you want to.

Hybrids have offset pulleys and custom cam pulleys. Then your blocking off passages in the block and head for oiling. Then making big oil return lines out side the engine and external feed oiling too. The hybrid is a PITA that came about years ago before the days of the 2.4 turbo (in the US). Once a couple people did the whole 2.4 swap the hybrid days were numbered. Doesn't mean it is a bad setup, they work great. But a lot harder.

A properly running 20 psi TII setup will run 12's in a Omni with slicks with mostly stock TII parts.

How deep is your wallet and how fast do you want to go?
