I used to run this setup on 8v car for evac under boost. Now tied to pan alone this should help "pull" oil down drain hoses as the only external filter is in head. Like the old setup you can actualy feel it suck even at idle and at WOT it realy sucks hard.

You can use any check valve from a Chevy v-8 with air injection on manifolds, that one is from big block Ford medium duty truck (little bigger).

The little check valve is like a PVC valve, when the slash cut end is welded into pipe it act's like a suction hose pulling vac all the time. Have never installed a gauge on it because you can feel/hear it so well it definatly works well.

Awesome Russ! Ive heard of these setups before, but have never seen pics. That looks like a good way to mimic the effects of a vacuum pump without all the big dollar items!

so you use this thing to pull oil though the drain lines for the head by applying vacuum to the oil pan. Tha kind of makes sense. Though, I am curious how you are getting vaccum off your exhaust, wouldn't it be under presssure, especially with a turbo?

Dont remember the correct term for it but it is basicaly a siphone action caused by speeding air bye the pipe. If you have ever used a small pot style sandblaster it is same deal. My dad used to tell me to stick the straw in my mouth out the wing vent window of his old Caprice, dam near pull a chunk of your tongue off at 75mph....funny guy huh?

It's called "the bernoulli effect". Your example is stellar Russ.

Here are the Summit ones, you can see the slash and they have you mount it flush. I just cut mine to 45* and slip it inside pipe a hair before welding.

How does this work without sucking oil vapor and oil out thru that tube?

Good question. Maybe it would be a good idea to weld up some baffles or something in the pan so only air and not oil gets sucked out?

It worked so good that at freeway RPM we disconected it, actualy did pull trace oil and would smoke out tailpipe. Going to hook up gauge today and regulate the suction down to 30" of vac at high RPM. Works too good at times

Let us know how it works.

btw, where did you "tap" into the pan at? I currently have a 2 input jazz racing breather hooked up to he dip stick tube an dthe back of the valve cover. works well, but doesn't create a vacuum under high RPM/Boost. your set-up sounds like the trick.

After talking to Moroso on the phine they didn't rec: using a dedicated vac system on a street car and that the pump on race cars be ckleaned with brake clean after every run....

I tapped front of oil pan, top center with a -10 bung and welded solid. With a non-common block I have used the fuel pump blockoff plate with no oil problems out tailpipe.

Hooked up a gatevalve today, short test drive on freeway was fine. May hook up gauge for drive down to SDAC race's in morning.
