Has anyone else played with these older subaru's.Mine was a turbo but I'm not sure what kind.It did have pretty good power and it was a blast in the snow.It has a button on the gear shifter to lock the rear diff so you had 4wd and you could engage it at any speed. I would love to have another one for my winter beater again! It also came with an adjustable air ride height.

I love those subaru's. love the door handles and interior, especially the gauges.

they even came with the h-6. I have never seen great potential with those older turbo 4's, but maby no one knew what they were doing? the 6 cylinder had pretty decent power and reliability.

they are however rather hard to find. they seem to pop up in my local junkyard every once in a while.

Wow,I was starting to think nobody had ever seen these cars before!!Mine seemed to go pretty good even with the clutch slipp'n but one with a six cyl would be awesome.I ended up trading it for parts for my Z because it needed more work then I was willing to give. The air ride was shot and it was extremely bumpy plus the clutch but hey,for $150 it was an awesome winter beater!!

wow that's weird I was going to make a thread about this exact same car, except for a 1986 model. I found a 1986 Subaru XT turbo 4WD about 5 miles from my house, the car came from California and has no rust at all, and the paint is very nice, interior is very nice and it also has a huge sunroof, air adjustable suspension, pushbutton 4wd, all digital gauges, etc. The car has been parked for the past 2 years because the drivers side front air suspension broke apparently.
was running great when it was parked, 140k miles on it and they only want $150 for it, I really wanna buy it but I already have a project car and DD.

I've heard you can swap in regular struts up front in place of the air suspension, parts are interchangeable between subaru Loyales, etc.

Check out http://www.ultimatesubaru.net/forum/ for more info on these cars, it seems you can do a lot of junkyard mods to them and have a quick car, add a intercooler, exhaust, saab coldstart injectors and up the boost.

Anyways if any of you are interested in buying this car just let me know and I'll hook you up with the address, the car is located in Clifton Park, NY zip code is 12019.

I wish I could afford to get this car but it's just to far for me.It's to bad it's not a 5 spd like mine was but for $150 I would snag it up!!I had alot of fun playing with this car in the snow even with the suspension pooched. It was bumpier than hell but it looked like it was slamed when it was parked :banaride:
