I'm just wondering if anyone on the board has some more info on this car, I know it's MR 2.2 T2 powered and weights about 2000lbs but my question is on the interior and other aspects of the car anyone own one of these cars? I am looking at purchasing one in the very near future. So anyone have anything else to share with me? Pictures would be great as they are few and far between on the internet

Garret,

The Consulier GTP was produced by Mosler Automotive.

http://www.moslerauto.com/

The Mosler website looks to have changed since the last time I visited it.

They used to have a "pre-owned" section and you could still pick-up a pre-owned Mosler Consulier GTP right from them, reconditioned of course.

IIRC the GTP was a composite carbon-fibre bodied monocoque chassis car. Featuring a 2.2L Turbo-II / A555 mid-ship. If I can find it at home, I can dredge up more details of the car - just at work right now.

Later,
Craig

Hehe,

Shows how long it's been since I really visited the Mosler site!

The 1950 lbs curb weight was kind of under-inflated compared to a street trim Consulier. Expect one to be more in the *fat* Omni GLH weight range - 2200 - 2300 lbs. The 1950 lbs ones were A/C delete, plastic snap on windows, etc. There was a big hula-balu back in the day when one of the auto-mags got their hands on a light-weight Consulier GTP and somewhat ripped it a new one for fit and finish, lol.

The one and only person I *knew* who owned a Consulier was an Andrew Oscar Gamble. Had me post it on the SDML reader's rides page years ago.

I say *knew* as it was an over-the-internet kind of know.

Best of luck in your hunt. There weren't but a handful made and you'll likely be barking up a $15,000 + tree to buy one.

Keep us posted - I'd love to see one of those make it into Canada!

Later,
Craig

I had asked for more info also in the cars wanted section. I'd be interested in getting one some day. Would like to talk to someone that "has" had one.
I saw one in person at Portland International Raceway back in the early 90's. Ugly but I like them.

I know the price is high, I've been looking for something "upmarket" from my daytona. I've seen oscars and remember him from the old SDML days. I'll figure something out It was either this or a WRX... and I'd rather have a 2.2 powered car

Try Rick D. down in Florida. He told me about a walk thru he did a couple years ago at Mosler. He'll know how many cars there were and what kind of prices they wanted for them. I do rememeber him saying most were the later V8 cars but there were some 'relics' too.

The Consuiler GTP suspension/chasis was designed at McKee Engineering. Mosler made a few changes, had another group design the body etc. I work with one of the engineers that worked at McKee on that project and later Mosler cars: Intruder, Raptor, MT900, which are all V8 variants and with more attractive bodies. The Consulier could be ordered spartan and with addition options for racing or with a plush interior, targa top, etc.

For Road Racing... this is the best chassis that was "mass produced" ,street legal & sold to the public, (although in small quantities) with a Turbo Dodge engine in it.
There were ~100 built. 5 or 6 with TIII engines. Before Consulier production was discontinued.

IF you really want a Consuiler GTP call Mosler and talk with Warren Mosler. He can most likely hook you up with one and spare parts. It is only a question of money.
