What spark plug should I use ? Parts catalog shows NGK PFR-6-11J or Nippondenso PK20PR-11. I have not tore into it yet. The front bank will be easy but the rear bank is going to take some work. This car has been setting for several years. Is there anything I should look for problem wise? The car is not running real good at the moment. My neighbor just bought the car for his son and I am trying to help them out. I have no experience with these cars and am in the the dark on alot of it. Thanks.

My son has a 92 Stealth R/T TT. I'll have to check with him on recommended Spark Plugs. http://www.pbase.com/rmscott/chads_stealth

As far as things to check;
If you have no record of the timing belt ever being changed and the car has over 80k on it, get it changed ASAP. Then while you are there, change the water pump. That engine is a Zero clearance engine. Which means; if you brake a timing belt, you WILL bend valves. Changing the belt is a PITA. That is the good part of it. IF you have a dealer do it, go to a Mitsu Dealer instead of a Dodge Dealer (very few Dodge Tech's know anything about this engine). A Dealer will charge approx. $1,500 to do a Timing Belt and Water Pump. Also when you change the belt it is advisable to also change the belt tensioner.
Check out www.3si.0rg forum for a lot of info on the Stealth TT/3000GT
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I will let them know about the timing belt. I will let a Mitsu dealer do that. I work at a Dodge dealer and none of the techs here have done one or want to do one. I am not sure if I want to even do the spark plugs on it!

It may be easier to put the car on a lift and try to put in plugs from underneath also

The upper plenum can be unbolted and lifted away with nearly every vacuum connection and electrical connection left intact. Just lift it out of the way and change the plugs.

The service is the 60K and 120K service of the Tbelt, tensioner and water pump. Remove the IC pipes along the driver side of the engine bay and the driver front wheel. The plastic flashing from inside the wheel well needs to be pulled away. From there on out it's not hard. I did it putzing along in a couple of hours. Stealth 316 is a greta site that has a step-by-step guide for the 60/120 service and will save you 1500. The parts to do it I believe are 450-500.
