ehh i figured i would post this here because i didnt see 2.5L 4cyl or anything so yah correct me if im wrong for posting here im so new my friend told me about this site.

i have a 1992 dodge spirit es turbo its running farely good i luv it but i wanna know some ways to make it faster because it has a Auto transmission in it and stuff which i dont really like im used to 5spd and the 5spd kicks my *** so bad i just want more power.

done to the car already....
1. pushed the turbo up to 10 pounds from the stock 7
2. k&n air filter instead of the stock thing... breathes way better imo
3. 2 1/2 inch exhaust with a 2 1/4 Magnaflow muffler (got rid of that cat. conv. it bogged it down so much and wasnt worth a poot

newho help would be nice.... L8rz you guys

Actually, stock boost pressures in 1992 is 11 PSI. The most important thing you want to do right now is intercool it. Also, the stock mitsubishi turbo really starts losing efficiency well before the 200 horsepower mark.

But, the part that intrigues me is how rare that car is. Turbo's were virtually extinct in 1992. Its been years since I studied production numbers, but about 230 Daytonas, 400 Lebarons, Shadows weren't official available with a turbo, and I imagine the same with the Spirits.
These numbers exclude the 16 valve DOHC turbo's in the R/T's.

Yes the 92 Spirit ES Turbo is rare. Thanks to ScottD, he told me that 360 Turbo ES where made. That includes auto and manual cars. I just sold an 92 Spirit ES Turbo Auto and it was Indy Red last week.

Why yes some people do call me lil Mike. And yes I do know this punk named Richard that lives like a half mile away from me. Boost on that car should be 9-10psi. Only the 84 Turbos were at 7-7.5 psi. By the way they only built 90 Indy Red Turbo Spirit ES's in 92.

All 2.5 turbo 1's were 11 PSI of boost, starting in 1989. From '89-90, the boost under 3000 RPM was limited to 7 PSI, and ramped up to 11 PSI in the higher RPM bands to keep the torque down.

Hence the "hi-torque" 2.5, which allows the full 11 PSI anytime the turbo can provide it. They are the 568 transmissioned cars. Supposively the auto's were still the "low torque" 2.5's, but I have not been able to verify that. Thats a really sweet ride. I'd like to add it to my collection of '92 8v turbo stuff....

Any chance you could tell me the part number of your engine computer? Its on a little sticker on the "neck" of it. It should be something like 471 9122 The 471 in big numbers, and the 9122 in smaller numbers.

Yeah my mind is still thinking about the older stuff, since that is what I used to deal with years ago(84 Laser Turbo, 87 GLHS, 88 CSX-T). In the time that I had the car, we re-ran the vac lines so that the car was only running like 3-4psi for daily driving. The same thing was done to my 91 Spirit ES turbo 5-speed, but with the auto in the 92 the car felt stronger.

So I can hack into your system and make your car not start whenever I want.

It looks as if there are a few different part numbers for the turbo SBEC-II's, and there must be some kind of difference between them all, and I am trying to figure it out what computers came on what cars and what years, etc. These 1992 8v turbo engine computers are very very hard to come by.

I'm thinking the 1992 shadows and Spirits are actually leftover 1991 electronics, but nobody will go outside and get the part numbers for me.

Sign the title over to me--that'll make it go faster and won't cost you anything!
