Anybody have experience with a start/stall issue with these cars?
Most of my experience is with fords, but the symptom is just like if the MAF was plugged. But I don't see a MAF in the intake plumbing, is this a speed-density system?

Just to clarify it starts and only runs for a second, doesn't help to give it throttle. I've tried disconecting various sensors like, IAT, IAC, TP, and what looks like it could be a MAP sensor but there was no change.

Thanks in advance

Ray

I don't have acess to a scanner for this car, our ford scanners never work on other makes.

without data, you could just replace every single sensor and part until the problem goes away. these cars run on speed density. if you are truely a ford tech, you would have that system mastered. the Ford H manuals were the BEST for understanding diagnostic logic proceedures.

OK you don't have a generic scanner. so hook up your dual trace scope (I use my vantage for this) compare check the cam and crank sensor to see if they are in sync.

2 things come into mind the fuel pump relay is going out (swap one around and see if it fixes it. Or the crank or cam sensor. Normally they run a few minutes and then die and have to be restarted, My brother had the same problem and we hooked up a scanner to confirm which sensor it was, this was on a 3.3 mini-van. If I recall it was the crank sensor.

Thanks for the tips.

The car belongs to a family member who's to cheap to bring it into the shop so it's not high on my priority list. I just thought I'd find out if it's a comon concern or not.

Thanks for your suggestions/critisism, lol.
FYI I started my apprenticeship in 2001 so I don't have much exposure to working on ford speed density systems. I can't think of any fords that use that system built within the last 10yrs.
Therefore what the heck is an "H manual"?

I'm sure sure that with an understanding of the theory and operation for this engine the problem could be narrowed down a few possibilities.

As previously stated, cam and crank sensors come to mind and go out sometimes. There is also a certain splice that corrodes and can cause your problem then eventually not start at all. This is my write up about the splice. I stated that it causes it to either work or not, but later learned it can be intermittent. http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/...ad.php?t=54496

Is this car a 3.3 or 3.5 ?

The 3.5 has a cam sensor directly on the front of the engine that liked to go flaky sometimes.

You can do the "on-off-on-off-on" key dance on these cars and the check engine light will blink out the error codes.

I had a '95 Eagle Vison with the 3.5l. LOVED that car.
