The 'tona being fairly light, will help...but that rears gonna be the first thing to give up the ghost.
I really like that project though! I'll be curious how he likes that fuel injection setup too....

8 3/4 are a very stong rearend, a dana is nice but chrysler did put the 8 3/4 behind any hemi automatic. I dont think he will have a problem with it.

With a 440ci engine and two pretty large turbos, I would venture to say that 650 is way underestimated unless he's running some very low boost.
On proper boost, that thing should have no problem putting over 1000 hp to the tires if the motor can hold somewhere around 30 psi.

man 1000whp!!! thats insane!!! i wanst thinking too much, it was late. i know that the lingenfelter z06 has the LS7 (427ci) with a twin turbo setup and it makes like 725 to the flywheel. your right though, bigger engine and most likely bigger turbos for you. i feel like an idiot now

No worries man, your number might be closer depending on what they decide to do with the setup, but it doesn't appear that we'll ever hear an update on this thing.
I posted that number because I have a friend with a 355 cubic inch chevy motor with two ebay turbo's and off brand wastegates that puts down about 850 hp at the wheels, and he has no intercooler or methanol injection, just race gas, 12:1 compression, and 12 psi. It runs the equivalent of a ~9.0-9.2 @ ~155 mph quarter mile (we only have a 1000' track, longer than 1/8th mile, but not a full quarter).

I agree that the 8 3/4 is an extremely tough rear axle, and if braced in the right manner by someone who knows how to weld without getting it to hot and tweaking it (It happens quite often believe it or not) it would handle that combo. That being said personally i would run the dana just for extra insurance. The reason i say that the 8.75 will hold up is because there is a good friend of my dad's who has a 71 challenger that has made a best pass of 7.91 at 180.89 mph with an 8.75 in it. Its powered by a 500 cube all aluminum hemi (older KB block with Indy heads) I have seen the time slip. Since then the only thing that has been changed is he went from 2 1150 cfm dominators to 2 950 demons to make it more liveable on the street. Thats right, its steet driven. It spends more time on the street then it does on the track. Oh yeah, and its a 4 speed (the definition of bad ass). If you go to the Mopar Nats you have probably seen it. Its tubbed and purple, cant miss it.

That is gonna be wild. He does need to rid of the 8 3/4. its a good rear end but not strong enough. A moderately built 440 makes 400hp then add a twin-turbo setup on it say he has it on E85 (112 octane) he can run probabally up to 15lbs of boost with a 8:1 compression setup. my estimate 1300hp at the rear wheels. in a striped and caged daytona that weighs about 2900lbs thats 1hp:2.23lbs for power to weight. that is gonna be F@*%ing nuts
