I need some info on these things please. I was going to go look at one today, but it already sold....for cheap! I wasn't fast enough. I never thought about owning one till I knew there was one local for a reasonable price, then I got kinda excited about it.
Is there any reliablity with these trucks? I wasn't planning on any heavy modding (at first ), and would just use it for work. I am basically curious for the driveability, and how much does it cost if something breaks. Like I said I wouldn't race it (often), but It would be nice for all wheel drive for winter.
I did grab some info off Home - SyTy.org, but i knew a couple guys here have them.

Thanks

From what I seen and heard they are decent vehicles and run good.

I think repairs based on what goes wrong might be a little salty but that is kinda a price to pay for having a performance vehicle like that.

Seen a few at the track was inpressed. I always wanted one but the $$$ was to much when I was looking. I think they are getting rare even more now for good shape ones.

Anything that came out stock that out performed a vette is a purchase canidate in my eyes!

Hell - call a dealer up and get prices on repairs of things you might think of and get a baseline on what it may cost for maintenance on the vhicle if you purchase one.

Good luck hunting and maybe you will come across another sweet deal.

my friend use to have a cyclone, it was all stock when he got it, but after modifing it some, he did run into head problems, I have herd that did plauge them a bit, and he had tranny problems as well, but by that time it was pretty modded. I use to love when he loaded the converter and braught up the boost and let it fly, it was a great launch.

with this vehicle, you think breaking things is annoying on a td, its worse of Sys and Tys. i love my Sy and ive had it a little over 2 months, there is nothing like it, but considering the variety of them and the rarity of the parts, ppl have 10 K into them and thats from a rebuild and some upgrades. I have not had any major repairs needed on mine knock on wood. I wouldnt have bought mine for the going value either, I stole mine for 1/2 to a 1/4 of the price. if you got money and time, they are an awesome truck. not for the weak willed or shallow pocketed

They aren't THAT expensive to fix. Way more that a TD though. I'm currently working on rebuilding my '92 Typhoon #0014, and I owned Syclone #1616 before that. They are crazy fast when tuned properly, but most trucks aren't.

I'm assuming you were looking at the Ty-clone that was for sale in PA? I was too, but other things came up.

Ive had my Sy for 12 years, with it getting harder and harder to find SY's/Ty's the unique parts are expensive cladding, rims, intakes, basicly the parts that were made specificly for both trucks.... As long as you stay on top of maintence and dont boost launch it at every light (hard not to do when you first get one) then there great but once you start modding them be prepared to have things break GM went with parts off the shelf (corvette, irocz's)to make them and in some areas of the truck they are pushing the limit as far as what they can handle i.e trans, tranfer cases, and front diffs.... If you want to get more info pm me and Ill give you some other site's to look at, but one thing is for sure nothing will be able to out launch you and youll get more compliments on it then any other vehicle you will ever own....

They're very high maintenance and you have to keep on top of them but they are a lot of fun to drive. I was looking at them for a while by couldn't swing the cash to pick one up at the time.
