Warning-I am a newbie to turbos-recent convert from small block chevy's...

Have a 2.5 turbo in an '89 Lebaron. Have never had much power in it. Not like my '89 Shadow did with the same engine. Boost guage never hits over 4, but I can hear the waste gate opening up-LOUD! Removed vac line and it now hits 7 lbs, sometimes a little more, and thats about it. Is my wastegate toast? Love my Baron, but a used Yugo could probably waste me, embarasing...

-Thanks in advance,

ONO (as in Oh-NO!)

reconnect the vacuum line to the wastegate, and check your timing.

Shouldn't be able to hear the wastegate opening. Sure you don't have a leak?

Where would it be leaking? Checked hose from turbo and it seems fine... I'll time it in the morning. Excellent gas mileage 35-40 mpg, just not the power I know this engine can make.

Thanks

Found 3/4" gash in hose from turbo to throttle. Some BOZO had the sharp end of a hose clamp rubbing on it. Time to visit the boneyard... Huge amount of scrapped turbos here in Spokane...

Thanks

You're a lucky man.

I have never, not once, seen a Turbo Dodge car in a junkyard in Rhode Island.
