My name is Aaron and I recently purchased a 1991 Dodge Spirit ES 2.5l turbo 5spd.

I have searching and lurking this forum for the past week and FINALLY found out about the sloppy shifter fix, but I have SO many questions.

First question
Speedo is broken, the guy I bought it from said it was that way when he bought it and the guy before him said the same thing. Going off assumptions and such I want this fixed asap. Is it common? Is it a cable or a sensor or both? Because of this being out, I have no accurate reading of mileage... which leads me to question 2

Second questions
Rebuild kits, trustworthy ones that you all use? Someone prefer a certain type to others? By rebuild I do mean a master engine kit with all the goodies, not just a reseal kit.

Third question
Transmission ID, where is the trans code stamp on this unit? I think its a A523, but someone correct me if I am wrong here. I also need to know how strong this trans is.

Fourth question
How much can the stock fuel setup flow. What injectors are stock? Pump capabilities?

Fifth question
Fastest times thread? Anyone have one that I just couldn't find? I seriously want to know who is up there in the quickest brackets and what they have done to achieve this. This car will be shooting for an 11.99 in the 1/4 and will never see a bottle.

Sixth question
If the above cannot be answered is there at the very least a fastest spirit page so I can know what I am up against?

Seventh question
Axles.... common snapping problems? Good for the power? Will they hold up to continuous slick launching?

Eighth question
Head.... for me being a long time mopar V8 guy I cannot forget about how terrible the penstar can put together a head. Is there an aftermarket support for this head or am I stuck shelling out the money for port job.

Ninth question
Who wants to see the build thread?

Thank you so much in advance for all answers to these questions.

Welcome to the board! We need pics!

some answers:

First question
Speedo is broken,
--There is no cable, there is a speed distance sensor on the tranny on the passenger side extension.

Second questions
Rebuild kits,
- None i would trust. look to fwdperformance.com and ********************
they sell the brands that work and some custom and forged stuff.

Third question
Transmission ID, where is the trans code stamp on this unit?
It should be a a568(plenty stout) if its the stock one, unless someone swaped it out. There should be
a tag on top of the bellhousing. PM ITSBUDDA he often wonders about trannys.

Fourth question
How much can the stock fuel setup flow. What injectors are stock? Pump capabilities?
-I would not trust a stock 15yr system, look into a walbro pump through the vendors here probably good to 500hp with right calibration and injectors. Stock is 33lbs probably good to 200hp. the turbo needs to upgraded on these motors.

Fifth question
Fastest times thread?
-- look up gusmahon.org and thedodgegarage.com

Sixth question
If the above cannot be answered is there at the very least a fastest spirit page so I can know what I am up against?

Seventh question
Axles.... common snapping problems? Good for the power? Will they hold up to continuous slick launching?
--- Slicks on a heavy car? Probably need something stronger than stock. I would look to the vendors, some are running aftermarket- driveshaftshop.com
I have heard of using minivan ends and car shafts.

Eighth question
Is there an aftermarket support for this head or am I stuck shelling out the money for port job.

_--port job. Unless you want to do hybrid 16v head or do a 2.4 engine swap

Ninth question
Who wants to see the build thread?

ME!
