I have mixed answers on what all i have to do to a 85 2.2 turbo omni to make the turbo be the most effective. i know a ported head is most likely needed and better injectorst, better CFM IC, intake, exhaust ,better computer (2 bar?, 3bar?), and i guess im just asking what els.

sorry if a thread like this was already posted and i could have got the answers off of it, but i couldnt find one.

thanks alot

the first thing you should do (since it doesnt sound like youre worried about keeping the car 'stock') is replace the early "log" style intake manifold with a later "1-piece" (plentiful & cheap) or (if you have the $$) a "2-piece" (rare and expensive) ; you will need to switch to a "86 GLHS" computer at this time also...

while you have the head of, you can port the exh mani, turbine housing, comp housing outlet, upgrade to a 2.5" swingvalve and downpipe, 33# injectors (may come with your intake mani depending on year of donor), add an IC, get a 88+ roller cam, maybe do a mild "gasket match" on the head & manis (read the various "porting" posts before you do this)

I also like the 3.3 V6 conical springs and PT lifters with a roller TBI cam = great high-RPM power which is especially fun in an Omni

do all this and you'll have pretty much my setup, with ~220 Hp at the wheels and easy high-13s in the 1/4
