No where else to put this since there is no section for other vehicles.

Working on a 98 3.8 mustang and gauge shown no oil pressure. Where is the factory plug/ unit at? pics would be a plus, but I can live with out them. Looked it up in a chilton's and it doesn't even show a sending unit on the car WTF?

look around the oil filter thats where the v-8s are. most fords don't use a real gauge it looks like a gauge but is an idiot light sender with a gauge that only goes up half way. should be a small sender with one wire.

Might be on the head(s) somewhere. On my 2.3 its at the back of the head on the intake side...of course on a V6 it'd be different. On the 5.0s its near the oil filter housing.

usually when you do a intake gasket in the v8 and v6 you have to unplug the oil pressure sender in order to pull the intake off as it is part of the harness for the injectors.chances are it came unplugged as you removed the intake if you didn't unplug it.

that's funny!!you make comments about fords begging for leaks.i have owned many fords, mustangs etc,i currently own 2 5.0 mustangs and have never had a leak from the timing cover or the distributor.matter of fact i have had more leaks from my 2.2's and even my 440 in my 69 r/t than i have in my mustangs!

Better the distributor in the timing cover than buried on the back like Mopar small blocks and most GM products. Archion beat me to it, I was going to go take a picture of the headless 96 Tbird engine for you.

Are you forgetting putting the distributor below the water pump? Which apparently likes to leak?

GM takes that honor.

Well, one thing about it, the 98 Mustang actually doesn't use a distributor, it has DIS like a 3.3-3.8L Mopar. Yes, I was trying to forget that beast, the one that a waterpump leak will kill. Then there was the early transverse "Tech IV" with the distributor under the intake manifold on the back side. GM topped that by installing the DIS coils in the same location.
