SO me and my friend are bored and we decided to get a project car. We are thinking of a cheap ass mustang. This will be a junkyard build for the most part on a very tight budget.

We were thinking of going to the jnkyard and getting a SBC 350.
Getting a couple of turbos.
Welding on a turbo flange to the headers.
The turbos will feed into a custom twin-turbo intercooler.
From the intercooler to a large carburator.
Run 6-8 psi of boost.
For extra fuel and knock suppressent I was thinking of using a custom direct port injection alcohol/water injection kit.

Thats the basic idea for now.

Anyone think it will work?

except for the SBC part sure (I hate SBC engines).
get a couple stock turbos from just about any turbo ford vehicle. i wouldnt get too worried about injecting water or extra fuel at only 6-8 psi unless you end up with detonation.

well even if you get the mustang for free, i would imagine that you would have quite a bit into fitting the engine into it. if you want chevy power...go all chevy, pick up a cheap camaro or something

if it was me...a 350 chevy is probably a great choice, those things are in every junkyard anywhere. If that's the engine that you choose find a car that had that engine as a common option that you can get parts out of any junkyard for...like an old camaro

Woot. Did the camaros come carburated? Would it be easier to turbo a fuel injected engine or a carburated one? Also are the 350's strong enough to take some abuse?

You are going to have to modify a carb for blow through boost, or buy a carb already made for it. Otherwise I think it will pressurize the carb and you'll get no fuel

Ya ive been reading about how to do that. What are some cars that came with low compression V8's? Should I be looking for low-compression and moderate boost or higher compression and low boost?

uhhh... what if you dumped a 2.5 into the mustang and made it rwd??

and yes impure... youd have to either do a suck through or make an atmosphere box around the carb and pressurize the whole thing .... someone told me you can do a blow through on a holley carb maybe? or was it edelbrock? i dont remember if youre that serious about it i was talking with a guy through emails that has ALOT of first hand evperience boosting old v8s and such

I am not a ford guy, but I would recommend a 5 liter from 87-93. They came factory with forged pistons and a steel crank. They are also everywhere. Fuel Injection would be easier and to run low psi just bump the fuel pressure up a bit. my 2 cents
