Sledneck, you must change your jetting according to make up for the pipe you put on. If you modify your motor at all, you gotta play with your carb to make the money count. Big Polaris motor in smaller frame=why? Granted a lot of the stuff will line up, you need a donor sled. So suppose you find one for $500 with a blown track or the motor cooked a piston. You start swapping stuff, realize one thing is broken, need new hi-fax, shocks are gone, do some wiring, some plumbing for cooling. In the end are you ahead of the game, maybe if you have all the parts laying around and the knowledge. I have a 1980SRX gold anodized chassis, with a 78 Exciter 440 FC stock motor, 84 Excel III rear suspension with wheel kits installed, widening kit on the front, 78 Exciter hood, 98 SRX seat, Comet A902 primary, custom cut secondary. The combo is good for 90 mph on the lake with an untouched motor, stock pipe and carb. Only reason I have it is because I was an apprentice at a local sled shop, and as my pay my boss helped me put it together. Also helped he raced Yamaha in the 80's and had all the parts laying around and the manuals for specs.
