standard head has 8 valves and has some flowing issues with high horse power unless ported extensively. The neon head is 16 valves, breathes better, and with the amount of porting work you could do to an 8 valve a 16 valve would be much better. With just a tiny bit of modifying the neon head goes on our 2.5 motors pretty well and you have that much advantage and make horsepower a lot easier with that upgrade.

I really need to do some research on this, I'm already ready to buy a new motor, but I dunno if I should keep the 2.5, or swap it out? I'd like to keep the stock mounts, don't really wanna have to fab up new mounts, because if I did, I'd just throw in something really insane...sooooo, what can easily be bolted in, wiring is not an issue, but tranny/motor fitment is.
I would just keep the 2.5. It has lots more torque. Instead just slap a 16 valve head on it (either a neon head or from a TIII car) If you're good with wiring putting in a 16 valve head from a daytona R/T or spirit R/T shouldn't be a problem, unless money is an issue. They tend to be costly

Well considering that I don't have to do the normal things I do to cars when I get them, like make the paint nice, interior nice, expensive wheels, suspention, etc, I'm just putting it all in the motor, haha. I'll look in to mating the 2.2 head, keep the suggestions coming!

Oh...I think I know what happened.

I think that he thinks that the neon head is a 2.2L head, lol.

The 2.5L and the 2.2L are found in the early dodges (Caravans, Daytonas, Shadows, ect) Before 1989 there were two different blocks, a 2.2L block and a 2.5L block. They shared the same head (turbos had some differences, but they were the same casting). After 89 they went to a common block for both the 2.2L and the 2.5L. They had different cranks and pistons. All were 8 valves except the TIII and the Maserati

The 1st gen neons have a Sohc & Dohc 16 valve engine 2.0 L engine that used the same bore spacing so that Chrysler didn't have to retool. Because of this the 2.0L heads can be transfered over to our engines with some work

Edit: The above is true with the 2.4L heads too.

ahhhh, that makes sense, told you guys I know nothing about these motors

RWD conversion isn't going to happen

I have a bigger turbo from a supra laying around I may throw on after I do a tuneup this weekend, just until I get a bigger precision and tubular manifold, haha

overkill? nah...

Overkill? What's that?!? LOL.

If that doesn't work, try one of these.

You may have a little bit of a hard time fitting it under the hood...

LOL...I believe its real, but I would have no way of knowing for sure (BTW That isn't me in the picture )

I imagine that it's probably off something like a diesel powered train or ship or something, lol. If they even have turbos, lol. Whatever it is, it must be HUGE!!
